National Trust ticket release

Our local NT is opening this week and you have to book in advance. All of this week is already booked up. It says on the website that they release the slots on a Friday.

Any idea what time? Is it a matter of staying up until midnight on Thurs night? Or will it be later in the day?

If anyone knows, I'd be grateful.

Well over 90 of current tickets being booked by members - not surprising - so the problem of pesky non members ‘taking’ places of members isn’t as bad as some might think ??

Lochroy · 08/06/2020 14:01

@HeronLanyon That's an interesting update and obviously data which has only been available since the process began.

MulticolourMophead · 08/06/2020 14:06

mamapants NT is a charity, and like all charities they are suffering massively right now. I've seen so many ads already from charities who are losing income. The situation we are in was unpredictable.

The NT tried to keep their places open as long as possible before being forced to close due to the actions of idiots ignoring social distancing. These places would have been open for the duration of lockdown if we could trust people to maintain social distancing, which we can't.

So, I'm not harrumphing at the NT, I'll reserve any ire for the idiots who make this current booking system necessary because they can't understand or adhere to social distancing requirements.

So I do have some sympathy for those who were hoping to get as much out of membership as they could, I would also be going to as many places as possible if COVI-19 hadn't come onto the scene. But this is the reality today and cancelling membership in a fit of pique (as some people have) isn't, IMO, the answer.

I agree and I haven't cancelled. I just felt bad that people were attacking some of the posters who were upset about it. I think it's easy tp be charitable if the membership fee isn't a lot of money for you. Some people have saved and sacrificed elsewhere.
We all have our own circumstances.

mamapants · 08/06/2020 15:33

Hopefully they will open in Wales soon so I can visit.

Ticket day! Booked Wimpole at 4:50am, most tickets were available. Looked at Stowe which is very popular and lots of tickets sold out already.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/06/2020 05:25

I booked Dunham Massey just after 2am!

Hermanhessescat · 12/06/2020 06:43

Not national trust but we booked bolton abbey on the thursday for the sunday and it was lovely. Just the right number of people there, most adhered to social distancing and there was a well organised one way system. The cafe was open for takeaway coffee which was a bonus. We are thinking of going to harlow carr gardens in harrogate at the weekend, nothing for sunday but loads for tomrrow and monday.

Hermanhessescat · 12/06/2020 06:44

Oh and loads of clean toilets ! They'd provided portable loos too.

BeatrixPottersAlterEgo · 12/06/2020 08:15

We're going to our local tomorrow, I've been looking forward to it for two weeks and it's going to bloody rain!!

NoWordForFluffy · 12/06/2020 08:19

That's the problem with having to book, isn't it? You can't just get up and go on a nice day (understandably, but it is pot luck!).

BeatrixPottersAlterEgo · 12/06/2020 08:41

Yes exactly. Though nothing short of a monsoon will stop me tomorrow, the toddler will just have to wear her rainsuit!

loulouljh · 12/06/2020 08:47

We are going later today although rain is due...but we are going regardless!

ExpletiveDelighted · 12/06/2020 09:02

DH stayed up till midnight and still didn't manage, he was trying to do it on his phone instead of the laptop. By the time I got up this morning they had all gone again (we can only go on Saturdays because of work).

NoWordForFluffy · 12/06/2020 09:12

I did it on my phone without issue.

We'll go unless we need an ark too. It takes more than a bit of rain to stop us! 😂

Sandsnake · 12/06/2020 09:19

I did it on my phone at around 01:40. One of the few benefits of being woken to bf the baby! It was slightly fiddly though - I found that when I was checking out I had to go back like I was leaving the checkout and then return for the form to put in me membership number to be opened up.
Frustrating but got there in the end. At that time of the morning I had my pick of slots for both of the (popular) sites I wanted.

drspouse · 12/06/2020 09:22

I've been able to use our local NT maintained cliff/beach since we were able to go for a walk with a drive involved. My membership goes towards that.

Izzytr · 03/07/2020 00:27

Hi! It is a matter of staying up till midnight, the tickets release at exactly 12.05 in the morning! And I recommend refreshing repeatedly till the dates change and then you will be put on the waiting room. For me this took 20 minutes, but it definitely depends on where you are visiting. You then have 15 minutes to select your tickets and put your info in! I hope this helps :)

Rowgtfc72 · 03/07/2020 04:54

Booked mine at 4am as up for work. 216 available for my hours time slot.
