DH and I are wondering whether to move out of the city we have lived in for the last 30 years. DS has left home and we have a business we could do anywhere. We don't need to live in a city anymore.
Both DH and I grew up in country areas and moved away for uni and work but we really yearn to go back to that way of life. Coronavirus has made it seem more urgent and appealing.
However, the villages where we grew up are very conservative not only politically but socially and culturally. I am on the FB group of the village where my parents used to live. They seem to support Boris whole heartedly and I was shouted down recently when I posted something mildly critical of the handling of the covid situation. I got the impression that most supported BREXIT too. It's something I don't understand at all because there is plenty of poverty and it's also quite obvious how they need immigrants to do farm work etc.
Are there any non Tory voting rural areas in England?
