Oh please. If he was a woman we would be outraged by this criticism.

ShirleyB25 · 01/06/2020 20:29

@FliesandPies

Grin Grin - You're quite right. I also felt greatly invigorated by this thread.

And if it means dredging the barrel or scraping it (whatever) - then so be it Smile

@Alsohuman

I don’t think his son is relevant to anything. All this speculation about him makes me feel quite uncomfortable.
Me too.
thenamesarealltaken · 01/06/2020 20:41

Think he's autistic or at least high on the spectrum, but also as he's not people facing, and a strategist, he probably can do that in his pjs.

FliesandPies · 01/06/2020 20:41

Unfortunately it was Cummings who made his Son part of the story with his lies claims that he made the trip to Durham out of parental concern. He also carried his Son out of the house into a press scrum, presumably so he could be photographed with him to get more sympathy.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 01/06/2020 20:53

‘. He also carried his Son out of the house into a press scrum, presumably so he could be photographed with him to get more sympathy.‘

Or just maybe the son needed to go somewhere.
Elements of the press have acted appallingly in this (the scrum around his car last week- no attempt at social distancing) but blaming him for trying to go about his life in the midst of it really takes the biscuit.

So he can't leave his house now? Honestly, we understand you hate the guy, but picking on his son and his clothes is beneath low.

FliesandPies · 01/06/2020 20:57

Countess I salute you for using one of my all-time fave expressions 'takes the biscuit'.

Apart from that, no. I don't believe for a second that he needed to bring his child out into a press scrum of his own making, it was a very obvious stunt and a sign that he will use anyone to try to absolve himself.

curtainsforme · 01/06/2020 20:58

Think he's autistic or at least high on the spectrum,

WTF does this even mean?

'High on the spectrum' Hmm

Not. A. Fucking. Clue.

Alsohuman · 01/06/2020 21:00

Sorry Flies, you and I part company on this one. A four year old has no say in what happens to him and, regardless of what his father’s done, he doesn’t deserve this kind of prurient speculation.

FliesandPies · 01/06/2020 21:01

I am clearly picking on Cummings not his son and to suggest that I am is also beneath low. I feel very sorry for his little boy, it must be horrible for him to be in the middle of this mess his parents have made.

Twillow · 01/06/2020 21:03

I was one of the many who wrote to their MP about his actions and I think there are more significant things to complain about than how he dresses. I imagine its probably representative of his disdain for the rules in general.

FliesandPies · 01/06/2020 21:05

Think you're misusing the word 'prurient' Also Confused

Sorry if it's upsetting you but I haven't actually speculated about his son - I am not interested at all in whether he has SEN, it makes no difference to what Cummings did. I certainly didn't introduce it into this thread which was specifically about Cummings and his attitude.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 01/06/2020 21:08

The press are human beings who have a choice to act ethically or unethically. It is possible for them to investigate and report on Cummings without doing it in a way that impacts on his son. Sadly they have chosen to ignore decent behaviour in this instance. That is their fault, not his. He should expect to be scrutinised but that doesn’t have to mean making impossible for his family to leave the house.

Redcrayons · 01/06/2020 21:10

It’s a total power play. He’s so special he can come to work dressed like a student. I imagine everybody else who works with him is smartly dressed.

I bet he likes Coldplay as well the twat 🙂
Ultimate insult

FliesandPies · 01/06/2020 21:13

It's their choice and I agree with you it's awful but it is Cummings fault. I wonder if you've felt so outraged at other people who've had to endure this treatment?

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 01/06/2020 21:25

Maybe he sees himself as more like Zuckerburg and less like government employee. After all he's known to be highly interested in tech areas like AI, SM micro targeting etc

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 01/06/2020 21:26

When he wore a shirt for the press conference I couldn't help but wonder if he'd dress like that for a court appearance or whether one of his mates (no BoZo) told him to wear a shirt)

Alsohuman · 01/06/2020 21:38

I’m quite sure he was told to wear a shirt.
SylvanianFrenemies · 01/06/2020 21:59

YY to sensory issues. IDGAF - his values, behaviour and influence are more of a concern.

Talisin · 01/06/2020 22:00

The autistic child rumour was traced back to a single poster on twitter who said he thought he’d heard it said on LBC and when it was proved he had not, deleted his post.

strugglingwithdeciding · 01/06/2020 23:12

Because he doesn't have to
