I think that both Cummings and Gove are on the autistic spectrum.
Both highly intelligent, both totally devoid of empathy.
Possibly Cummings more so with his narcistic personality.

Because he is arrogant & doesn't give a shit. If a woman turned up at parliament looking like DC she would be ripped to shreds.

Because he's a "psychopath" (D Cameron) and likes to strut about like a pile of dirty washing ordering about people who would be disciplined for not wearing shiny enough shoes.

Why does he ( or anyone else) needs to wear a suit if they don’t want to? Wearing a suit doesn’t command respect or enable you to do the job better or worse than anyone else.

I like to think that, in younger years, whilst trussed up in an ill-fitting suit, he came across this poem:

On dress, I honestly don't care. He's not supposed to be in the public eye, he is a back room "boy". He can wear what he wants. It is much more important as to what he does, than what he wears..... and there we have an issue.

Lots of non-customer facing roles now have casual dress. In many companies even at high level, most executives now wear smart casual, shirts and chino's. Very rare to now wear a suit every day.

Derxa, it certainly gives one a better idea of what Mary Wakefield saw in him.

If I turned up to work dressed the way Dom does, I'd be sent home to change, or at least told to buck my ideas up by the next day. He looks like he's been sleeping on the streets most days.

In answer to the OP, there’s an awful lot to dislike about Cummings but the way he dresses isn’t one of them for me.
