Trashy book recommendations

I've been doing a lot of reading as a way of passing the time in lockdown but with four DC, homeschooling, DH working from home FT, etc. my mental load is too big for me to concentrate on anything heavy.

I've been downloading really trashy books and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

I've read:

  • a couple of books from the Demonica series
  • a couple of Jade Lee books (a bit samey but an easy read)
  • some Susan Lewis (Dance while you can and Obsession)
  • Twilight (loaned to me by a friend, was shit, stopped after book one)
  • 50 shades (same as Twilight)

Storyline isn't important so long as there is some sort of stab at a plot.

Summer at the comfort food cafe has been my favourite lockdown trash. Funny and romantic trash

Jackie Collins- start with Chances, then Lucky (there's a lot in that series but those are the best) some of her others that are good are Rock Star, The Stud, The World is Full of Married Men.
Jilly Cooper start with Riders, then Rivals, then Polo.

If you want better vampires than Twilight may I recommend the Black Daggers series by J.R Ward? There are a fucktonne of them and they are trashy but addictive.

I was going to say Jilly Cooper but beaten to it. Riders/riders/polo are ace in a posh shite way. I will go up to Score but refuse to do any of hers more recent than that (the school one was just grim and can I just say buttercunt).

I like a bit of Marian Keyes too - all the Walsh sisters ones especially

The Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris are good, they're what True Blood was based on.

BankofNook · 31/05/2020 21:19

Thanks all Grin

I've downloaded the first Charlaine Harris and Riders then will start on the others once I've finished those.

Anything by Sidney Sheldon! They are my guilty pleasure.

I'm reading and enjoying Lace by Shirley Conran. Very long but good. Trashy but not trash.

If you fancy a bit of vintage trash, check our Jacqueline Susann's Valley Of The Dolls. She is the godmother of the trashy novel genre and it's a brilliant read. Judith Krantz's books are also fabulous vintage reads (Scruples is a great place to start).

These are very entertaining, I loved them.
