Hi
Please could anyone help. I'm making my parents a 40th wedding anniversary cake for Sunday and I would like a good recipe for a crumb coating and buttercream please.

Also does anyone bake using oil instead of butter?

Thank you

I just use a normal buttercream for the crumb coat and filling

I've just made this cake for ds's birthday cake and it's really lovely, very Fudgy in texture and made with oil

Best buttercream recipe here -

230 grams unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
360 grams icing sugar
2-3 tablespoons double cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (not essence)
pinch of salt adjust to taste
