I'm so pleased they are doing the reruns of this on C4.

Still very relevant, hasn't aged in the same way as similar things from the same era. I'm enjoying it much more now than I did as a late teen, plus the 90s early 2000s nostalgia.

I loved Smack the Pony! I just randomly thought of the oblivious pregnant woman sketch and laughed out loud. Then tried to explain it to DH and failed miserably.

It has aged better than Vic and Bob, that’s for sure.

Can you imagine the fanfare and criticism it would get if it was new now as an 'all female comedy pushing the boundaries of female sexuality*

But at the time I feel like it mostly passed under the radar and was just something a bit silly on a Friday night before Eurotrash.

I still think about smack the pony parking whenever I go to an empty car park - basically the way you can't choose where to park when there are too many options.

I like the one with the bikini line overflowing with hair from the swimsuit at the swimming pool. 😁

Why was it called Smack The Pony though?

According to Wikipedia

The show's title was intended as a spoof of the kind of stories that would feature in annuals aimed at young girls. Originally "Spot the Pony", it was changed at Kevin Lygo's suggestion to "Smack the Pony" which some people mistakenly assumed was some kind of sexual euphemism

Although it makes more sense that it is a sexual euphemism, so not sure why they would say it isn't
