Running with weights

Has anyone tried this?

I thought light wrist weights might help tone up my arms as I run along.

You could do, but I don’t think it’ll tone your arms. As I understand it, running with weights can help with aerobic fitness and increase the calories you burn, but it won’t actually build muscle. Plus it can change your gait and put more pressure on your joints, which leaves you more vulnerable to injury. If you want to tone your arms I’d do some sort of strength training alongside your running, instead of trying to combine the two.

I think it would be safer to wear a weighted vest, if you want to increase the intensity of your run.

Wrist weights are not as damaging as ankle ones by any stretch. But different arm carriage can alter all sorts of things about your fair, can cause new aches and niggles and worst case can lead to damage

It's a strange and roundabout way to tone your arms. Why not do some normal dumbbell/kettlebell or BW exercises?
