Waiting for a call to collect keys

I checked earlier online about 9 and it said my mortgage was now live (FTB) so I assume the money has been sent over, I'm just waiting around for a phone call, I don't exactly know who from. There is no chain and the sellers have already moved out. Do I just sit patiently or chase this up with my solicitor?

I loved reading these! Can you tell us what your new homes (and gardens!) are like?

Callmesausage · 29/05/2020 19:16

Congratulations both. Just been through the same two weeks ago! Enjoy your new homes.

Hope it went well! We got our keys at 10am this morning! It’s been a long and hot day!

mynameisntlouise · 29/05/2020 19:24

How everything went ok!

We're exchanging on a sale and a purchase on Tuesday and completing Wednesday. Our seller is moving in with her mum so I'm really hoping she'll move out the day before so we can get the keys ASAP. I'm not really sure how it's supposed to work if you're waiting for someone to pack up and move out!

Our buyer is a housing association so it's not like they'll be sat waiting to move in but they will want the keys handing over.

Thanks everyone!

@BahHumPug it's a 3 bed semi around 10 years old it's a lovely house just what we wanted it doesn't need much doing to it and has plenty storage. The garden is ok just needs tidied up a bit, I like that the living room/dining room is at the back so you open the patio doors onto the garden. I'm over the moon I've got a downstairs toilet and an en-suite though 😂 just need my new sofa and dining room to arrive and it'll start to come together. Wish me luck for an ikea trip on Monday to get some new furniture bits, I'm having nightmares about it!

Thank you all too. This is a 1950s ex social housing 3bed, lovely garden, absolutely over the moon with it. I've got almost all my stuff moved, DC wanted to sleep here tonight which we're doing but I forgot bedding, so it feels like we're camping or on holiday. The best thing so far is that I've got Freeview on my telly, never been able to get it before and I'm quite excited about that too!
Also delighted that my new shed has fairy lights! Smile

Both of your houses sound amazing! I hope you had a good first night ☺️

pinkrocker · 31/05/2020 10:51

Thanks, it was ok. Today is clearing out and cleaning my rental house to hand keys back tomorrow. Lots of rubbish to get rid of! But will be end of an era and hopefully the start of a new one. I still feel like we're in a holiday let, this house is all new and shiny and the old one...well.. wasn't! Grin
