Amending Asda order

schoolsoutforcovid · 28/05/2020 11:37

I've clicked amend order on my asda order. When I go to check out it tells me lots of the stuff I'd previously checked out is unavailable.

My question is what happens if I don't checkout amends and just leave it. Will I get my original order? I'd rather have subs for the out of stock items than the couple of bits I was going to add to the order. Thanks

You won't get anything unfortunately. I always screenshot the out of stock items and add them in when doing a final check out (usually 9pm the night before)

schoolsoutforcovid · 28/05/2020 12:15

Oh. Better continue amending then Grin

This really annoys me about Asda! Coutnless times I've been on to add 1 thing and they say that 5 or 6 items are out of stock and they want to remove them from my basket.
I decide not to add my extra item and when the shopping arrives in a few days all items are there.
Personally I'd rather take my chances on the day that the original item is on the shelf when someone is picking.

LemonySippet · 28/05/2020 14:31

Yeah I've found that if you don't need the extra things you were going to add, then the things it's trying to kick out of your basket now are likely to be substituted so unless you're desperate for the additions, leave it as it is. I've been using Asda throughout lockdown so have become an expert at this!

I’ve just tried to amend my order and it says things are out of stock but if I put them into a new order they show as in stock. Very annoying.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 29/05/2020 10:37

I leave everything but tick subs if I want an alternative, several times they end up being delivered anyway. Getting an order today with 12 things not coming despite them showing as in stock on the website. I wish they could keep it updated and not show things as in stock when they are not, plenty of items showing as out of stock.

schoolsoutforcovid · 03/06/2020 00:16

Ok
So if you click amend order and don't check it out you still get the original order?

OP posts:
Redglitter · 03/06/2020 00:19

If you dont amend it you'll get whats available at the time your order is made up.
It might be it shows out of stock today but its back in stock tomorrow.

schoolsoutforcovid · 03/06/2020 00:20

To see the items out of stock you now have to click amend.

So it says you are now amending this order.

What happens if I then don't check out again? The first pp said I'd get nothing, subsequent pps said I get original order

The out of stock items might be back in stock when the order is packed early in the morning. Or you’ll get a sub for the same price.

Rhodri · 03/06/2020 00:25

Don’t check out. You’ll get the original order with subs for the items that are out of stock.

schoolsoutforcovid · 03/06/2020 00:26

Oh. So now I don't know who to believe Grin

OP posts:
LemonySippet · 03/06/2020 00:28

Yes what Rhodri said. Occasionally something will actually be out of stock and you'll get nothing, but you're far more likely to get a sub. Apparently there was not a loaf of bread to be had the other week, which I find hard to believe, but there we go.

schoolsoutforcovid · 03/06/2020 00:30

I actually like subs (I'm weird) but the first reply was that I'd get no shopping at all!

Trust me, we're extremely vulnerable and haven't left the house for 3 months and have been using Asda weekly throughout. I bought my delivery pass last August so I'm well versed in the whole system.

If you click amend and there are items out of stock, and you don't actually need to add anything, just leave it. You'll get your original order with subs for what was out of stock.

LemonySippet · 03/06/2020 00:31

Well that's just not true.
Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/06/2020 00:34

In my experience with Asda (all the same store) if you don't change the order you originally made you will either get the product you wanted which they say is out of stock or a reasonable substitute, whereas if you change your order and the item is removed sometimes you can add it again and sometimes not. But it's possible it's different in each store.

schoolsoutforcovid · 03/06/2020 01:19

Bloody hell @TableDesk you misinformed me!! I lost some potentially decent subs there Sad

OP posts:
schoolsoutforcovid · 03/06/2020 01:20

I've had a delivery pass since August. Not telling you what's out of stock until you go to checkout again is a new feature. It used to tell you before you amended

OP posts:
MissMooMoo · 03/06/2020 08:31

If you dont check out during the amending period you just get the original order you first checked out. If things are out of stock they will substitute them. Many times I've gone to amend an order and found 10 things out of stock so abandoned and I'd say 99% of the time the order comes with no subs as everything is in stock by the next morning or I get a sub or 2.

MissMooMoo · 03/06/2020 08:36

The advice from table desk is incorrect, you will still get your original order if you don't check out from amending, you just won't get the things you added.

Ghostlyglow · 03/06/2020 08:55

I always go back and take out change the out of stock things. This really annoys me about asdas online shopping. When you're amending it tells you stuff is out of stock at the beginning so you just think everything is sorted and then right at the end it tells you more stuff is out of stock!!! Other than that they're great - only one I've been able to get online slots with through lockdown - and their subs are usually quite sensible (if you see what I mean)

PlugUgly1980 · 03/06/2020 09:05

Depending how critical the amends were that I was making, if there are lots of out of stock items at checkout I often cancel the amends and go back to my original order. I've found that quite often the supposed out of stock items either come with my order anyway or you get good subs. It all comes down to whether you're desperate for your amends to go through or not. There's definitely miss information in here, you absolute have a choice, you don't have to remove the out of stock items if you're happy to cancel your amends.

Rhodri · 03/06/2020 09:06

Let’s say I want to add a bottle of milk. But when I amend my order there are several items out of stock. If I leave my order alone they’ll substitute bigger packets or more expensive brands for the same price. Whereas if I check out I either have to remove those items or if I want the more expensive subs I have to pay more. Never remove the out of stock items - you’ll get something more expensive for the same price!

schoolsoutforcovid · 03/06/2020 09:16

"When you're amending it tells you stuff is out of stock at the beginning so you just think everything is sorted" not anymore it doesn't!

Where were all you lot when I needed you! Grr 😠
