Just seen this on flightradar. Drone which took off from New Romney has been back and forth over the channel. I had no idea they appeared!

The fact that it is carrying an aircraft registration "G-TEKV", is a clue that this "drone" is not a drone in the common or garden sense of the things - a small piece of hobby kit, flown off a beach or back garden.

This one is the size of small light aircraft and is operating at altitude in open airspace that might be shared by other aircraft..hence it's equipped with electronics that makes it visible to those aircraft, ATC , and as a consequence the flight tracking apps.

@notimagain wow thank you. I had no idea. I was thinking of the kit drones. Smile

I saw a BBC piece about an unmanned flight 'drone' about the size of a large car delivering PPE to the Isle of Wight, maybe it's something like that, rather than a little hobby drone?

If you look at the video up thread it's the size of a small car/microlight...
