just that really. I'm not an avid swimmer but the occasional swim at the local hotel pool (it's small but quiet and rather luxurious) with a sauna after is just what I fancy. For some reason been craving it for days...

Oh for normality again!

So am I

FraughtwithGin · 27/06/2020 15:02

I do too. Used to swim 3 to 5 times a week (in hotel pools) as I was away for work. Now I am not working and the rules are different depending on which region you live in or are visiting (Germany).
Place about 40 minutes down the road does have its pool open, but you need to book and are limited to 4 hours.
Other places I have stayed at, do not yet have their pools or spa areas open and are really fannying around with getting arrangements in place.
Personally I would not mind a booking system as I am as happy to swim at 06:00 or 21:00.
I am quite mystified at the sauna issues as I thought, possibly wrongly, that heat kills viruses and I assume the vast majority of people would not travel if feeling ill anyway.
I would also be quite happy to have my temperature taken (if it got me a swim).
There just seems to be so much conflicting information/regional variation at the moment.
The local open-air pool is open, but I am not too keen on going alone as I assume you wouldn't be able to get a locker, so I wonder what you would do with purse, car and house keys.

I miss my swim time I was swimming weekly to boost my fitness plus taking the kids separately to boost theirs

Violetroselily · 27/06/2020 15:09

Swimming is my main form of exercise - I swim 3 or 4 times a week - and I am desperate to get back in the pool Sad

BuffaloCauliflower · 27/06/2020 15:17

Agreed Sad I don’t mind not having the sauna, but I’d love to be able to swim now. I’m not a great swimmer but I’m pregnant and it’s just what I need. I was working on increasing fitness at the start of the year, swimming and yoga, and lockdown has ruined it! My asthma has flared so things like jogging are out. Hopefully only a few more weeks.

I've been missing a 'proper' (Finnish/Russian style) sauna since moving to the UK, LOL. But I get what you mean. We have recently discovered a lovely river spot that is quite shallow / safe and therefore popular with swimmers and bathers. Maybe you can find something similar near you?

midsomermurderess · 27/06/2020 16:19

I'm so looking forward to my local pool opening. I was really getting back in to swimming till lock down. It can really shift my mood if I'm feeling low.

CMOTDibbler · 27/06/2020 16:22

I swim in open water anyway, but am actually loving that the lake I go to is open more days and hours than usual, with a strict limit per slot. Luxurious it isn't, but the swimming is amazing, and having to prebook means I am committed come rain or wind for the next month!
