We just eat simple salads
cucumber, Tom's, red, yellow, orange peppers all chopped up with iceberg lettuce and watercress and red and white onions.

dubiousdecision · 27/05/2020 20:22

Salads with fruit in - mango or raspberrys or orange segments go down well (not all at once) There's a lovely one with raw broccoli cranberries, bacon and a sweet dressing too although it's so full of calories it kind of defeats the whole purpose of a healthy salad Grin

BrieAndChilli · 27/05/2020 20:26

Roast chicken with assorted salad (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, olives, peppers, carrot) DD is veggie and eats everything, boys are much fussier with veg!
DD likes roasted butternut squash and feta salad, she also likes falafel and houmous with spinach in a wrap. She also likes mozzarella with tomatoes and pesto.
Potato salad.
We all like homemade coleslaw.
Ploughman’s - ham/chunk of cheese with crusty roll, pickles and salad.

Nicoise (believe it or not) - new potatoes, tuna, boiled egg, lettuce and cold green beans.

BrieAndChilli · 27/05/2020 20:27

Greek salad with pita and tzatsiki dip.
Any meat with corn on the cob for the boys.
Tuna pasta salad
Couscous with veggies mixed in

I think DS8 would probably enjoy a chicken Caesar salad, or anything that's basically meat, cheese and carbs with a few leaves.

Most kids don't regard salads as sustenance though. Once when we got back from a holiday I made a lovely salad with lentils, feta, pomegranate seeds and toasted walnuts. All things he loves. He broke down in tears when he realised that was dinner Hmm (he was very tired, in his defence).

Quornflakegirl · 27/05/2020 20:28

Greek salad
Caesar salad
Coleslaw
Chopped carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, peppers
Crunchy cauliflower salad

stophuggingme · 27/05/2020 20:29

My boys both love smoked mackerel with a salad.
DS2 will eat anything.
DS1 - some leaves, not all. Cucumber. Radishes (I think). Sweetcorn. Potato salad. He likes feta and watermelon salad. Some couscous but depends what it's with. (He's a fussy so and so)

CodenameVillanelle · 27/05/2020 20:33

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 27/05/2020 20:37

tomato

grapes
sweetcorn
grated carrot
orange or red peppers, but not green
Little gem or iceberg lettuce

spring onion
edamame beans

Also various pasta, rice, couscous, coleslaw, houmous, potato salad type dips.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/05/2020 20:57

DS is fussy. He'll eat sweetcorn, lettuce, raw carrot, cucumber and cress. That's it.

Longdistance · 27/05/2020 21:06

Cucumber
Lettuce
Sweet corn
Beetroot
Radishes
Carrot
Quite pleased with that list as both dds are fussy with other things 😬
