IT experts - can someone see when you open a password protected zip file

A friend has been sent an email with a password protected zip file attached - she has been sent the password to unlock this however she does not feel emotionally strong enough to read what may be attached and has therefore forwarded the email to me along with the password - would the sender be able to see who has opened the file?

No, they can't tell. It's entirely happening on the local computer.
