It’s being broadcast on the nasa YouTube channel and website.?

Just under 2 hours to launch, they’re just shutting the hatch now.

I was thinking that too @bertucci

Whatthefoxgoingon · 30/05/2020 20:39

They do look like they’re wearing wellies, safety helmets and some PPE pilfered from the NHS though Grin

JacobReesMogadishu · 30/05/2020 20:43

Amazing. The spacesuits certainly don’t look as bulky as they used to!

icansmellburningleaves · 30/05/2020 20:47

bluefoxmug · 30/05/2020 20:48

about what time?

ElectricTonight · 30/05/2020 20:50

@Bertucci Hollywood basement ? Although I had some suspicions when we lost signal when the base part landed Wink

You're not the only one..

Though I think they are "lightweight" intra-vehicular suits , designed to be used inside the hull protect against depressurisation, not designed to be used for wondering around the outside or used on a Moonwalk..

The Russian equivalent, the Sokol suit, is similarly flimsy.

bluefoxmug · 30/05/2020 20:52

the base part landing on the ship was like a bad magic show Grin

JacobReesMogadishu · 30/05/2020 20:55

Hopefully visible about 10:15pm

I loved watching it, but was also terrified in case something went wrong. They seem to have lost the live feed now, hopefully all the essential links to earth are still working.

RedToothBrush · 30/05/2020 20:57

It looked quite comfortable on board. Better than a jet2 flight.

TokyoSushi · 30/05/2020 21:00

Thanks!!

lynsey91 · 30/05/2020 21:01

I was really emotional watching the take off. Brought back memories of watching the moon landings with my parents.

I was holding my breath when they took off praying they would be safe.

Furball · 30/05/2020 21:01

the landing of the booster rockets like that is not new for space x - here's a from last year - watch 1.50 in Shock

ElectricTonight · 30/05/2020 21:10

That's amazing @Furball it almost looks as if it's videoed in reverse it's that perfect! I wonder why it doesn't flip 100times and just goes straight back down?

I was listening to a podcast earlier with a Russian cosmonaut who had a problem with his space suit when on a space walk and it started expanding because it was too thin, he was in danger of not being able to use his arm to pull himself back to the capsule or to fit through the hatch.

Figuregettingbigger · 30/05/2020 21:29

Can I ask what the podcast was??

bonsaidragon · 30/05/2020 21:38

I knew somebody would ask but I couldn't remember the name when I posted. It's one of the chapters of Days that changed the world by Carrie Gibson. It's free on Audible if you are a member.
ILiveInSalemsLot · 30/05/2020 21:38

That was amazing. Apparently the signal is always lost when the base part lands. It’s something to do with the intense vibrations or something.
Fascinating stuff.

bonsaidragon · 30/05/2020 21:40

Why are they having to dry the suits out? I assume they were hot and sticky.

Sounds a bit like the problems on the very first spacewalk done by Alexi Leonov..he had all sorts of difficulties getting "back on board"..does 18th March 1965 help in the search for a podcast?

bonsaidragon · 30/05/2020 21:54

Yes, it was Alexi Leonov.
