I’ve got a UC claim and I’m due to find out the amount I’ll get on the 5th May with payment on the 8th. Does anyone know if the advance amount is the same as the monthly amount I’ll get or if it’s higher/lower?

The advance amount would be pretty close to your entitlement- but before deductions. There’s no way to be absolutely certain of the actual amount you’ll receive until the statement comes out- far too many variables or deductions to even guess.

Thank you, do you know what deductions there are? I know you can’t tell exactly what mine will be but is it tax and NI?

Deductions will be things like repayments on your advance, any earnings (they take 67p per £ over a certain allowance I think) plus anything that's over the cap.

It could be earnings, fines, council tax/rent arrears, savings, Other benefit arrears, child maintenance, deductions to housing if under 35/have adult dependents/spare bedroom, carer’s allowance, current student finance, UC advances, pensions, etc
