and I'm not sure that he fully believes that it was an accident.

It was one of those God awful giant sports direct ones and I did regularly complain about it. It was ugly and too big for the cupboard. But still I feel awful and it was an accident even if I had regularly fantasized about it's demise
I am still mourning the loss of the most perfect bone china cup that was smashed last year.

So please help me to replace it. Smile
The mug must be the same size ish as the original and I would like to get one with something that he would like on.
DH is very keen on science, star trek and planes. He is basically my lovely little geek.

They make good pen pots too.

I completely agree with your dh on Mike Ashley... if he feels like that, definitely time to get a new mug, without any of those irritating niggles of guilt. Either that, or seek out a SD mug in a charity shop when things open up again, thus ensuring that Mike Ashley doesn’t benefit.

I can highly recommend Redbubble for unique geeky designs. The mugs I've bought from there for my tea loving DP have gone down well, but they're not quite Sports Direct bucket sized.

Ouchjuststoodonlego · 28/05/2020 20:37

Thank you all again.
I have found a 20 oz batman one or star trek one so far. Just looking to make sure that there's not a better option.

They are awful but my sympathies are with your husband here. I have a thing about mugs and the last time one of mine broke (a huge one with Stanley from The Office on it) I almost cried.

Get him a nice new mug and a paddling pool from SD in the shape of a mug - DH bought some trainers from the website the other day and nearly got one for the summer.

If it's geeky mugs you're after, here is your site:

Thank you.
I have ordered him a giant, colour changing dc comics one to arrive tomorrow.
It is fucking hideous.
He is going to love it. Grin

I love drinking out of SD mugs at work for their size and shape but also don't want to support the company. I have a vintage Starbucks 'City' mug which is very similar, but it's on its last legs so I'm checking out all the recommendations above! I like the mugs to be straight sided, thick and hefty, rather than fine china, so that's an added requirement!! Very fussy!

You need the Emma Bridgewater pint mugs.
Ouchjuststoodonlego · 29/05/2020 12:54

@MonaChopsis
I found a manufacturer called abystyle that seem to sell loads of different giant mugs that might be good for you.

Thanks @Juiceey and @Ouchjuststoodonlego!! Will check out both options. Like the Emma Bridgewater ones, but oomph! Pricey.

Katinski · 29/05/2020 14:08

Did I not hear that Emma Bridgewater's gone to the wall?*
If so, you can expect the prices to fall.

*might be a completely other co. I'm thinking of - anyone know?

SoupDragon · 29/05/2020 14:09

Cath Kidston folded. I don't think Bridgewater has.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 29/05/2020 14:15

For those still looking. Asda do some large (hold a pint) sturdy mugs. £3 each.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 29/05/2020 14:15

Well done on finding a replacement. Smile

Sorry, side-tracking, but did you find a replacement for that?

Katinski · 29/05/2020 14:18

soupdragon Bingo! That's the company I was thinking of!

SoupDragon · 29/05/2020 14:30

Same "twee homesy" look :o

(I have a lot of Bridgewater)

pinktaxi · 29/05/2020 14:39

You can have my sports direct mug. It's in the bathroom with toothbrushes and paste in it! Monstrosity
