I’ve not been before, but someone told me it’s a bit of a bugger to park near the the sea front ?

Though if we are talking ice cream then Jelbert’s of Newlyn is the best of them all

I live in Cornwall and we won’t be visiting places like St Ives, Fowey or Padstow at all for the foreseeable future because social distancing is impossible and it isn’t fair on those who live in these towns.

If I lived out of county, I’d be even less inclined to come.

When the pandemic is over, if you like crowded places, by all means come next summer.

Sarcelle - clotted cream on top? Take a seat on the balcony with the cushions, I’ll bring it out.

Scruffyoak · 30/05/2020 14:09

we are also hoping to go 4th July. Fingers crossed. Don't park in St Ives though!

Sarcelle · 30/05/2020 15:09

@CountessFrog no clotted cream for me, you go too far. Bagsy the corner cushion.

I don't have a sweet tooth (I don't eat chocolate but like chocolate ice cream) but when I go to St Ives I seem to eat a lot of sweet stuff. I have a bingo card of foods to get through in the week - cream teas, ice cream. Then the savoury - crab sandwich (I would kill for one right now), pasty, fish n chips....

I live in Cornwall, I hate these sort of threads which inevitably turn into Cornish bashing / tourist bashing threads.

The thread's been going for five days without turning into either.

I wonder how the gulls are getting on? They must be totally baffled by the lack of tourists wandering around holding food for them to steal.

CountessFrog · 30/05/2020 18:02

Yes I thought that!

St ives food bingo!
Mine would have eggs Benedict on it

At ives in July & August is absolute hell. Don't assume you will find parking in town. Just use the park & ride or the train from st Erth. Also it will be a faff with all your beach clobber But tbh only go for a day out if that. There's plenty of other places / nicer beaches to go with decent parking.

Should add that's every other year please don't come down at all this year

On the subject of ice creams I'm a Roskillys girl myself

Lardlizard · 30/05/2020 18:24
