How do you sort out your old photos?

Like many people I guess, I have used lockdown to sort out boxes of old photos but I'm now not sure how to keep them. There are a couple of hundred of them.

The only ideas I have, put them in albums, but I want to add notes while I can remember who and where.

Or scan them and make a photo book but this is likely to take ages and be expensive.

Before I decide, I'm wondering if there are any other options?

Boots, Wilkinson’s and I think WH Smith do photo albums with a space for you to write a note of where the photo was taken or who is in it. The only problem is I think they tend to be 7 x 5 size.
Or you could get a scrapbook.

I have 6x4 albums with the space to write a note next to each photo. I got them from Boots.
