Listening to Cummings on SKY and feeling the anger rise - well planned statement but as he takes the questions his attitude is appalling .

Journalists need to press him - Andrew Marr should be there !

I disagree, i think his statement answered mgt questions and he's managing well with the dogs at his ankles. (I'm a lefty who'd never vote tory)

bellinisurge · 25/05/2020 17:09

He's not saying anything which makes him different to thousands of other parents in the same situation.
Nope, still twisted the rules to suit himself.

WarmSausageTea · 25/05/2020 17:10

Loathsome hypocrite.

Irnbroothenoo · 25/05/2020 17:10

Did you feel as much anger when Labour MPs broke the rules? There were at least 3

inlectorecumbit · 25/05/2020 17:12

He does have a first name

How rude

attackedbycritters · 25/05/2020 17:13

So labour MPs travelled with the virus?
They drove a car whilst concerned that their eyesight was not up to it?

FTMF30 · 25/05/2020 17:13

@Irnbroothenoo They're not senior advisors to the PM though are they? There are levels of responsibility.

SimplySteveRedux · 25/05/2020 17:14

So he bundled his kid and wife in the car for a "trial drive" coz his vision was "weird". 🤣🤣

cantdoitanymore · 25/05/2020 17:14

Personally I think the best thing to do when you're worried your vision is impaired for driving, is to strap your child into the car and go for a 30 mile drive. If you don't crash - spot on! Drive across the country!

Irnbroothenoo · 25/05/2020 17:14

All MPs have a level of responsibility. It’s hypocritical to let one lot off and not the other. It’s a witch hunt because of who he is, not what he’s done and it’s pathetic

Mistlewoeandwhine · 25/05/2020 17:15

He is vile. No way did he not stop for toilet breaks etc if he was ill and with a small kid in the car. He has possibly killed someone and doesn’t even know it.

user1498572889 · 25/05/2020 17:15

He explained what he did and why. Right or wrong. The press going round in circles is not going to make him answer differently. Sad fact that false stories about this made headlines.

cantdoitanymore · 25/05/2020 17:15

Also his kid was able to drive all the way there without a toilet break but couldn't manage the 30 mile trip without a toilet break 🤔

Irnbroothenoo · 25/05/2020 17:15

So labour MPs travelled with the virus?

Yes and there weren’t numerous threads vilifying them because they weren’t Tory

RitzSpy · 25/05/2020 17:17

We should all test our eyesight by driving 30miles - really?

Dozer · 25/05/2020 17:18

MPs (except govt ministers) are not on the Government payroll or influencing policies and regulation on Covid.

attackedbycritters · 25/05/2020 17:20

Whilst ill? I can't see evidence of that.

goingtotown · 25/05/2020 17:20

He can’t remember buying petrol on the way back home.

WarmSausageTea · 25/05/2020 17:22

He explained what he did and why.

I disagree; I think what he did was present the nearest thing to an acceptable/excusable version of events.

I think the reality is that he neither gives nor ever gave one single fuck about official advice (or whatever you want to call it) and decided to do exactly what he wanted to do.

But let’s face it, what any of us thinks counts for pretty much nothing right now.

FTMF30 · 25/05/2020 17:23

@Irnbroothenoo Yes, all MPs have alevel of responsibility and his is more senior. He has a higher level of responsibility and he was very much involved in the lockdown rules put in place.
Also, how do you know Labour MPs broke rules? Because the press reported on it. It's DC and BJ making the situation worse by not accepting his error in judgement. It's his arrogance and Boris' strong defence of him that is riling people up the most.

Orchidflower1 · 25/05/2020 17:25

It’s the arrogance and refusal to apologise that gets me!

He clearly thinks he’s too important to say sorry.

Orchidflower1 · 25/05/2020 17:25

Is there another “normal “ briefing after?

ScrumptiousBears · 25/05/2020 17:28

What he read was like a witness statement. He is like he is being cross examined in court. Repeated questions the same again and again from different journalists. I think he is doing very well.

That fact is plenty of people who are criticising him haven't followed the rules either. Move on guys. There are plenty more important things going on in this country.

user1498572889 · 25/05/2020 17:29

@WarmSausageTea. What people think has never counted for anything in the eyes of any government ever.

AnneLovesGilbert · 25/05/2020 17:29

The PM is holding a press conference later which might be the usual daily one. Not sure when.
