Anyone ever changed their mobile number?

I need a new contract and due to a horrible ex I would quite like to change my mobile phone number at the same time.

Is that bonkers? Will I spend the rest of my life regretting it? So many online accounts are linked to my mobile, will I spend the rest of 2020-2021 being lockout of everything and having to re-set up everything?

How do you let all your contacts have your new number?

I am probably over thinking this!
It would be a good idea to change my number so my ex can't use it to get into online accounts to, as obviously at the moment they know my current one.

Will I ever be able to remember a new number (I have had this number for 20 years Blush)?

I think you're overthinking this!

It's a little bit of hassle, changing your number in a few places, but it's not a massive issue.

I've done it and it was easy. Having said that, I've never remembered either number! I have to look it up every single time.

Oh no Moondust Grin can you get it tattooed on your wrist?

I've had the same number for probably 20 years. Maybe a bit less. I know early on I went through a few but as it's more common to have things linked to your number it's harder now. You ex can't do much with your number if you block him. He can't access your accounts without access to the sim.

However, maybe you could buy a new sim/contract/number and switch your old number to a payg sim that you don't need to top up and stick it in an old spare mobile. That way it's still under your control and you can access it when you need it for getting into accounts. As the year goes on you will need the number less and less as you change each account to your new number.
