Do private schools have to adhere to the same year groups going back?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I can't seem to find the info.

I wasn't sure whether private schools have to stick with the years R/1/6/10 phased return, or whether they work with a different system and can choose to send other year groups back too? Also, a general question, is the return of the other year groups in state schools completely ruled out before September?

I appreciate that this all may be speculation, but thanks anyway!

I have heard they don't ,but.I'm not 100% certain of that, special school,s however don't my son has severe autism and learning disabilities and goes to a school for children with complex needs and I have been told by them there are no plans to bring back any year group, which I totally agree with as social distancing will be impossible for them, My oldest son is in year eight in a mainstream school and I got an Email on Friday to.say they won't be returning before September although year tens will be offered half a day. Week ,but this could all.change I suppose if things keep.improving?

No, they don’t, however... independent schools are having bother with insurance where they are not aligning exactly with government guidelines. So even if they want to open to more years, they are finding it impossible to do so in practice.

Ours said they do, but are seeking guidance from ISC on whether they can vary (Y5 have all their entrance exams in September, and Y6 really don't need to be in)

Yes, both of ours have been told that they have to.

Ours are. Just makes its simpler to please the masses I think. It's easier that way

Ours are for that first week in June, the following week they plan to bring year 2 back.

Changeofname79 · 24/05/2020 20:51

Ours is doing the same as the government guidelines. I can't imagine they would do any different but I have heard of some not going back at all.

Ours has been amazing with the online learning so personally I hope they don't have more year groups going back early. Currently there are 3 buildings from nursery to seniors and only 3 year groups going back in June. Classrooms are only small so cant have many in there at a time so it works well for them for now to follow the guidelines.

haverhill · 24/05/2020 20:52

Ours has been told in no uncertain terms that they do.

Ours is a pretty prep and all years are going back on 1 June, it has very small classrooms and we're very happy with the measures they are taking. Whilst our DD is in year 1, it's really helpful for everyone to have year 2s in for the last half term to say goodbye.
