Has anyone been to Costco during lockdown?

Me and DP could really do with a trip to Costco as not been since February. I know they have introduced mandatory mask wearing to go in which we can adhere to but I'm just wondering if there's a limit to only one person going in like the supermarkets?
Our card is in my name but I would struggle to go in on my own as we buy so much stuff and I'm too weak to push the full trolley so just wondering if we can both go in? Obviously DP can't go on his own because it's my card!
Thanks

I phoned my local store to ask them about their rules before I went. We went last week (hadn't been since last year!). Face masks not mandatory. They allowed the member to bring one guest so 2 people max. Went went on a weekday evening and there was a short queue outside which moved fairly quickly.

SkyesBackPack · 24/05/2020 13:14

I went yesterday, mask wearing wasn’t mandatory ( England) me and dh went together but we each have our own card.

We went together to Asda as well. It’s the first time we have been anywhere together in over two months.

I have been into two shops since lockdown and I just find everything so confusing. Once I have done it I’m fine but each new shop has its own systems. Plenty of couples out and entire families

You don't have to wear masks, whoever told you that is wrong. Max of 2 people and that includes children, it was really quiet on the one time I've been so cant form an opinion on that.

Brilliant thank you both, I think the mandatory mask wearing is being introduced this week or next week so we will take them just in case.
It will be strange for us too as we haven't been anywhere together since lockdown, going to go one night this week and hopefully it won't be too busy.
I can't wait to have Costco loo roll in the house again Grin

It was the local newspaper who reported about the mask wearing, so they could well be wrong!!

We've been two or three times (was trying to get toilet rolls as we were nearly running out after not buying any since last year), never needed masks, sounds like someone is having you on, or maybe you've read US information?

Both DP and I went in together, but we only go a quiet times and didn't actually go in on a couple of times that we tried to when we were passing, including Friday at about 6.30 pm, maybe people were stocking up for the BH weekend?

goatley · 24/05/2020 13:21

I went about 3weeks ago. It was fine. Had to queue but not for long. Member of staff presented each shopper with a trolley near the entrance.

Some wore masks. I haven't seen on their emails that they are making it mandatory?

thatcarolebaskinbitch · 24/05/2020 13:21

The article said the rule was already in place in the US and was being introduced in UK stores too but either way we have them if we need them. Luckily we still had plenty of loo roll when the panic buying started but ran out during April but were waiting until we needed more stuff to go.

Costco website.

We're probably going to try again one evening next week as we want to stock up before our card runs out at the end of the month.

MsRinky · 24/05/2020 14:01

I got a Costco grocery delivered a few weeks ago - £5.99 for delivery. Was worth it to me not to have to go to the store. You put your postcode in on their website and it will show you what is available.

thatcarolebaskinbitch · 24/05/2020 14:03

Our closest store is only 10 mins away so I don't mind going as long as DP can come with me Smile

I went today. Got there for 11am opening and had to queue, but only for about 10 minutes. We didn't have to wear masks. They seem to manage the social distancing well.

We tried to go on Friday at 5pm and Saturday at 11am and 3pm and the queues were massive.

LeSquigh · 24/05/2020 16:34

I have been to Costco a couple of times during lockdown. I am emergency services so can get in early at the moment which is really useful! Masks haven't been referenced in their emails, the latest of which was yesterday, and I didn't need to wear one when I last went a couple of weeks ago.

ToothFairyNemesis · 24/05/2020 16:35

You can get a free card for your partner so he could go alone.

thatcarolebaskinbitch · 24/05/2020 17:18

@ToothFairyNemesis my card is actually the second card on my dads account which is why DP doesn't have his own card

OP posts:
ToothFairyNemesis · 24/05/2020 20:00

Oh I see, wasn’t sure if you knew second cards were available.

ohcorona · 24/05/2020 20:21

We went last weekend, face masks not mandatory and allowed myself, DH and 2 children to go in.
I do love Costco.

Troels · 24/05/2020 20:34

I haven't been since December, Dh was saying we need to go too. But a 50 min drive I'm not keen. I may well order and get a delivery for £5.99

thatcarolebaskinbitch · 24/05/2020 23:19

@ohcorona we love it too this trip is going to be the highlight of lockdown, finally going to feel semi normal again as Costco is a regular weekend outing for us Grin

ohcorona · 25/05/2020 07:27

@thatcarolebaskinbitch it felt so nice for us too. We got gifts to drop off for my Mums birthday. My DD picked a new fancy dress and my DS picked a new jumper. I got new trousers.
It felt a really nice, normal thing to do.
Hope you and your family enjoy your trip.
(I only went to get a Chicken enchilada 🙊)

AdoreTheBeach · 25/05/2020 07:39

I have been to the Sunbury-On-Thames one twice during lock down. Once towards the beginning and the other last week. Both times mid week, later afternoon. This avoids the crowds. We drove by on a Sunday last week (so not this weekend) and there were long queues. No queue when we went. We’re too uncomfortable to be near too many people during this time so avoid anyplace we have to queue up as it’s an indicator might be too many inside the shop.

I went in with my DD first time (adult) and DH second time. So no, it isn’t one shopper at a time.

Glittertwins · 25/05/2020 07:54

I ordered and paid for online delivery as I wasn't sure about queue lengths. Most of what I wanted was limited in quantity I'm assuming the same would apply in store too?

WhySeaEmm · 25/05/2020 17:51

We've been twice and its been a real highlight of lockdown for me, mainly because I was able to get a cup of coke from the cafe! I have sooo missed cup drinks!

Queues were long both times, but inside nice and fine :) have fun!

Wtfdidwedo · 25/05/2020 17:56

We live about 30 minutes from one but over the border so I'm not sure if we'd be stopped and judged as our rules are slightly different to England. We ran it of Costco toilet paper about a month ago and I was devastated!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/05/2020 18:02

DH and I went a couple of weeks ago.
We both have cards , both allowed in , we took one trolley .

Queue was maybe 25-30 minutes , well spaced .
They limited people in depending on people out .

We spent bout an hour there .
No flour available .
Queues to pay very short .

Last time I went was Feb
