Sliding sofa

What can I do to stop my sofa travelling? I know someone out there will have some great advice.

My new house has tiled floors throughout downstairs. My sofa is in the middle of the living room because it's impossible to place it against a wall, and the bugger slides about like a Dancing on Ice contestant, despite being so heavy that it outweighs even me!

I've ordered a rug which I'm hoping will be large enough for the whole sofa to sit on and I'm going to rug-tape that to the floor, but is there anything I can put the feet in to stop them sliding, should the back feet not sit on the rug?

I really don't want to carpet through as I'm a dog person in the countryside and the mud is phenomenal in winter. So, will the rug help? Or is there a better way to stop sofa-travel?

You need to increase the level of friction between your floor and the sofa, so would anti-slip tape work? It looks pretty industrial so would probably not work aesthically speaking if your sofa had visible legs.

Or put something rubbery on your sofa feet.

Thank you @Hydrobatespelagicus. The legs aren't exactly visible, there are huge throws over the sofa, but anti slip tape would make it hard to move the sofa in future if I decide to change the layout (or the sofa) or even move it for cleaning. Rubbery things could work though...maybe some little rubber mats for each leg?

Blue tac?

Go on Amazon and do a search. Lots of options for rubber cups for furniture.

Rubber cups x

Not sure blu tac would have the 'staying power' @Smallfacesfan. It's fine if the sofa is just 'there', but as soon as you flop down to sit on it, it slides and blu tac probably won't keep it in place. I'm off to Amazon to look at rubber cups now...

Ordered! I've found a lovely set of cup things that have rubber grip on the bottom! So they should work on the tiles and on the rug.

Thank you everyone. I didn't know such things existed until today!
