Temperature on different areas of forehead?

Im consistently around 36.6 on all parts of my forehead. Nice and straightforward.

DS, for the last 3 months or so, has been higher by a degree or a degree and a half to the sides. This morning the middle was 36.7 but he was 38.3 to the side (he hadn't been leaning on it or anything). He's been on antibiotics twice for tonsillitis but his temperature has never been completely normal all round since the first bout, in March. He's four days into a two week course of augmentin now.

Is this normal?

Are you using a contactless thermometer? This happens to my DS all the time. Green at the front of the head and red over his temples. I reread the instructions and apparently you should read it from the front of the forehead. Does he feel warm on his chest?

I thought forehead thermometers were notoriously inaccurate?

I might just get an ear one; at least that way, we only have two very precise spots to pick from!

Is it a sensor one - because yes ours definitely did that (and indeed said not to use the temples). You could also use it as an ear thermometer and that was much better
