IKEA deliveries - any good?

Hello.

I'm thinking of ordering some stuff from the IKEA online store for the kids' rooms. But DH and I both remember horror stories about friends waiting forever for e.g. IKEA kitchens to be delivered.

Any recent experiences?

Thanks!

I placed my order Friday, it’s being delivered on Tuesday. It’s my third IKEA order and I’ve so far had good experiences.

Kitchens and other heavy items are delivered by a different process to small bits and pieces.

The heavy items including some kitchens that are stock items, are delivered by the in store contractor, so service could vary from store to store, but its been fine in my experience.

Smaller items are delivered more like normal online deliveries, I ordered some curtain rails and other bits about 2-3 weeks ago and was given a delivery date of 4 June, so obviously don't have them yet.

Everything was in stock and I was annoyed at the long delivery time, but I just thought it was the 'corona delay' that was mentioned on the website, but now I see that Gingham got her stuff in a few days, I'm not so sure.

Anyway, they're opening again on 1 June but I expect the queues to be epic based on what's happened when coffee shops and fast food places that have started to re-open.

But there will be a one way system so they've said people should go prepared, with a list (you can check online if what you want is in stock and where it is in the shop).

We ordered some storage items and a couple of things for the kids. Took 5 weeks to get here

I've ordered a few things online over the years. One during lockdown. They split the order into two. The smaller items sent by DPD a week before, and the larger items (desk, office chair etc) delivered by Ikea themselves. I was emailed/text to update me at all times. They rang me when they were half an hour away on the day of delivery. I've always found them very good. It did take a good few weeks to arrive (it might just be my store). DS wants a desk to do his school work in his room now and their earliest slot is the second week of July.

I've had loads of IKEA deliveries because I live in a remote area a long way from an IKEA and they have always been great. They deliver on Sundays too.
