I was too young to appreciate Desperate Housewives the first time around

All seasons are on Amazon Prime - half way through Season 1 and it all resonates with me so much more now I'm in my 40s. It's hilarious fluff - perfect Lockdown TV.

I loved it so much! I tried to watch again recently but DH wasn’t interested.

Enjoy!

Teacaketotty · 23/05/2020 13:33

We’ve been watching too, so much better this time around!

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 23/05/2020 14:23

Oooh I didn’t know it was on Amazon! Perfect!

Good stuff, but it could have been far more multicultural. There can't only be poor Latino cleaners and handymen.

Just like Girls, Gossip girl, friends.... and all the rest, it focused on a rich white narrative. My experience of the US just ain't that.

Libertylee · 23/05/2020 14:39

I loved it first time and enjoying watching again- halfway through season 3 🤗

kaleidoscopeantebellum · 23/05/2020 14:41

I've just finished watching all 8 seasons! I really enjoyed it. Might try ugly Betty next.

Teacaketotty · 23/05/2020 14:47

I’ve never watched ugly Betty, any other recommendations?

Ukelele3 · 23/05/2020 14:49

I've watched every episode several years ago (may 8 or 9 years ago) and even though I really really enjoyed it, I honestly cannot remember even a tiny detail of what happened in the episodes now. I just about remember the names of the main characters and who was with you.

PiggyPokkyFool · 23/05/2020 14:59

@TeaAddict235 - I thought Gaby and Carlos were Mexican? What about The Applewhites - it has been a few years but I think that was their name.

vinoelle · 23/05/2020 15:44

@Teacaketotty I love ugly Betty!

TeaAddict235 · 23/05/2020 20:06

Don't the Applewhites come in a few series / seasons later? Almost as a way of answering the critics. @PiggyPokkyFool

PiggyPokkyFool · 23/05/2020 22:30

They do I believe @TeaAddict235 but given their storyline I cannot believe they were brought in to silence any critics - nothing too 'feel good' about it. If they wanted to include just to appease then a few candy floss characters might have better!
And G+C were definitely there right from the start and then there was Mama Solis and Gaby's Mum and the v v v dodgy step father.
There were probably others too - it's been at least a decade since I have seen it though DH and I did love it.

Wanttobeateacherinscotland · 14/06/2020 18:02

Anyone still watching?

EatsShootsAndRuns · 14/06/2020 18:09

We’re on series 5. We watch 3 or 4 each night as DH is hooked! Great watching it again. Grin

peachypetite · 15/06/2020 06:30

I’ve been watching it again too.

sucha · 15/06/2020 06:31

Would like to see this again thanks.
I just rewatched 6ft Under, really enjoyed

SiaPR · 15/06/2020 06:32

You were too young?

Ughmaybenot · 15/06/2020 06:35

How were you too young? It only came out 15 years ago or so didn’t it?
I could’ve written your OP but I’m 26 Grin watching it all on prime and loving it!

CoveredInBeeeees · 15/06/2020 08:55

I don’t think OP means she was too young to have seen it - just too young to appreciate it more, which is understandable if you find yourself in the same sort of life position as the characters second time round.

peachypetite · 15/06/2020 09:11

I completely understand what OP meant, being older and married and pregnant now means I view it differently to when I was a teen!

Mornington22 · 15/06/2020 09:34

Remembering it, seems very of its time. I recall a comment that it was a drama that both women and men watched, but for different reasons (men apparently for Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria).

Ughmaybenot · 15/06/2020 09:36

Oh, sorry, I missed the point! I get you now Smile

Etinox · 15/06/2020 09:37

It’s aged well hasn’t it?
