I am tasked with putting together a quiz night over Zoom for some friends and want some fun ideas. It’s for several couples. I’ve looked on google and haven’t had much inspiration!

Look up Nikki's quizzes on Instagram

BadTimesAtTheElRoyale · 22/05/2020 17:25

We did one last week where each team were given a letter and all answers had to start with that letter.

SionnachRua · 22/05/2020 17:27

Does it have to be a quiz? Look up taskmaster at home, it's really fun to play via Zoom.

MindatWork · 22/05/2020 17:33

We did a great round where you had to collect things from around the house or do a ‘task’ and whoever got back to their computer with the item first got the point. Things like ‘make a paper aeroplane and make it fly’, ‘find 2 shoes from different pairs and put them on’ etc.

Also recreate famous movie scenes using props from around the house - do the photos beforehand then share your screen and everyone has to guess. So I’ve seen when Harry met sally, titanic, Jurassic Park etc

MindatWork · 22/05/2020 17:34

The task one is admittedly funnier when you’ve all had a few drinks Grin

I did one last week, we did a guess the logo round, guess the cartoon block characters (google and image results and I just took a screen shot and sent to a whatsapp group during the quiz). Then things like a quick fire round, general knowledge , celebrity round, true or false round, and a 5 in 8 round, so you have 8 seconds to name 5 things to do with a topic (separate question for each team).

We did this - it was great fun - a hat (so many used a saucepan), something sticky, draw a picture of yourself (I was fat with a glass of wine in my hand), draw a cartoon character (the winner of that drew pac-man, genius)
We also had a picture round where you get a picture and zoom in on one bit and show that and they have to guess what it is from that. Some easy, like a giraffe, others really hard.
For our family one though we all had to do 10 questions each so it wasn't all just on one person.

We've had song intro's
1-10 round was really good. So question 1 has one answer and 2 has two etc..... so for No. 4 it was name the Daniel Craig James Bond films and you got a bonus for knowing the new one that isn't out yet.
Name the 7 dwarfs etc...
Food and drink round always goes down well.
Do love a good quiz and they've been a life saver during lockdown!

For a photo round I used a face swap app and used photos of the people I was doing the quiz with and celebrities-so they had to guess who's face was on theirs.

thecatsthecats · 22/05/2020 17:52

We ran a Taskmaster evening - it was hilarious! We did a prize task of sending a picture before. And another one, all based on home stuff.

I was wondering if we'd pushed people too far with the instructions, but they really rose to the challenge.

whereiwanttobe · 22/05/2020 18:43

We did a quick-fire 'catchphrase' one based on the old tv programme. Google provided all the graphics. The 10 year old was really good and quick at it, so it's fun for any children joining in too.

Fred578 · 22/05/2020 18:50

Thanks everyone, some great ideas

My brother and sister in law did a round of rude place names and you had to guess where they were. Very amusing after a couple of drinks.

I wrote a 100 question quiz for zoom. Happy to email it to you if you'd like to see it. Send me a pm if so Smile

I hosted one last week. We had Gen Knowlege, Food & Drink, guess the logo using the 'stayhomestaysafe' catchphrase, music, science&nature, telly addicts, guess the movie quote, guess the baby photos

devildeepbluesea · 22/05/2020 19:10

Some of our best rounds so far have been:

  • guess the songs played by one of the quizmasters
  • close up pictures of everyday objects
  • identify the famous landmark from a screenshot of Google Earth (or maps)
  • close up of a section of logos
  • album covers
fullofgoodintentions · 22/05/2020 19:10

We've done the price is right round, so you pick some random items out of the cupboard and closest to the correct price wins.

Guess the statue picture round (can be quite hard as some statues look nothing like who they are meant to!)

Catchphrase round based on the tv show (this takes some extra effort as you have to film someone carrying out tasks)

Tv show theme tunes

dementedma · 22/05/2020 19:12

Loads of quiz questions on line. We also throw in a few family ones. when DD2 hosted she asked “Which ankle have I broken and had 3 operations on, left or right?”. I actually got this wrong!!!

AnnofPeeves · 22/05/2020 19:31

I zoomed in on some family photos and cropped them. Then sent them round via WhatsApp. It's amazing how many people don't know what their own ankle, ear, scarf etc looks like.

Another good round is to find some simple words on Google translate, learn how to pronounce them (and write down the phonetic way to pronounce them!). Say the word, give people three options for the English translation, and an extra point if they can identify the language. That is really good fun.

Another one is to use images from tv programmes and get people to name the programme and the characters. We've had 'crap TV shows' and 'less famous children's cartoon sidekicks'.

Guessing 'how many' is good too - so how many miles would it be travelling from person As house to person Es, via B, C and D. How far to holiday destinations, how many people do whatever each day, etc ad infinitum.
