I love the smells and colours of sweet peas, freesias and roses . This year I have ventured in to the world of dahlias and am loving the look of this one.

Too many to choose from at different times of year!

I love irises, but they’re very short lived in the garden. Amazing in a narrow vase. Freesia for scent, indoors. Daffodils as they say that spring is coming and there is so much to look forward to. Peonies are so beautiful as a cut flower.

In the garden, I love the tall campanula, ranunculus, hydrangea mopheads and cosmos. The scent of jasmine and lilac flowers are just amazing. And who doesn’t love a rose.

Not a fan of sunflowers though.

My absolute favourites are lupins though.

Peonies, roses and tulips.

For some reason I don’t like Lilies, daffodils or gerberas and I don’t like yellow flowers.

This has made me realise how fickle I am. I am usually very excited about whatever has most recently come into flower. Tulips, Wisteria, Peonies, Clematis, Narcissus, Iris, Roses.....

I do love lilies but don't grow them or have them as cut flowers since I learned that they are toxic to cats. My violas deserve a special award for longevity this year, flowering for months on end.

There are some sensational towering foxgloves around at the moment, and the fragrance of Jasmine is intoxicating. My alliums are magnificent this year (although to make it into my top ten I think flowers need to have beauty and fragrance - obviously allium fails on the fragrance front)

I'm easily swayed by fragrant foliage too - Silvery eucalyptus, lavender, scented pelargoniums....

Depends on the time of year and if in the garden or cut in the house.

Spring it's daffodils all the way, they just look so cheerful after winter, I have thousands in the garden and always in the house while they're blooming. Later on tulips.

Summer I love my clematis and variegated peony in the front garden, and sunflowers - they're just so unashamedly cheerful!

In the autumn in the house I love the ornamental cabbages you get then, especially if mixed with roses.

Orchids- had them in my wedding bouquet and last ages cut in a vase

Old fashioned roses from my nans garden which smell of actual roses

Jasmine and daphnie for the scent

PaperMonster · 22/05/2020 16:35

hopelessbusiness · 22/05/2020 16:38

Hydrangeas, peonies, sweet peas and lupins - big, blowsy cottage garden type flowers.

happymummy12345 · 22/05/2020 16:39

Red roses, then any other colour roses

itsme · 22/05/2020 16:39

Rose's, peonies, sweet peas, gerbera and stocks.

WingBingo · 22/05/2020 16:43

I love peonies. Amazing when they open from that tiny ball to this.

Also stocks, they smell amazing. Then orchids or lilies.

@Martysmarvellousmeals I thought I was the only one who thought that about sunflowers!!! Also I hate that they are so tall and loom over people's gardens!

peony68 · 23/05/2020 16:40

I have had freesias in the house for the last 6 weeks (not an essential purchase but they make me happy) and I love the smell as I walk past Thanks
