I only work a couple of days a week. It’s a stress free easy job and I’m very junior.
We are now working online and nothing makes sense to me. By the time I get back to work so many decisions have been made and I do t know what I’m doing or where to look for information. I’m really old and I’m unqualified and I feel so stupid and past it. I don’t know where to start with asking what I don’t know as I don’t know it. No one in my team is in today.
I also hate my husband at the moment. Bastard. I can’t spend another DAY of quarantining post and shopping when he’s hanging out with his mother!
I just want to go back to bed and start again.

Firstly, take a breathe and take one day at a time.
Is there anyone on your team that you can speak to? I'm sure they will not mind helping you understand something.
What is your job?

Take a break, get some fresh air, then come back to the work.

Make a list of the things you don’t understand then ring or message either your boss or the friendliest of your colleagues.

Loads of people will go back to work, having forgotten passwords or processes. It’s normal. You are not stupid or past it x

Can you log on on the days you arent working to keep yourself in the loop? Not ideal i k ow or ask for a handover.

Why quarantine post and shopping? Open post, keep or chuck and wash hands. Wipe shopping over and put away?

Thank you!
Bastard husband made me a cup of tea and found me some chocolate. I had a good cry and stood on the step to get some air and light!
I have decided just to do the few bits I can do and leave the rest until next week when I can ask people from my team. I’m doing other people’s work, other teams, and it’s stressful. Wah!

Thanks Mumsnet.

Are you shielding?

Even if you are I'd find somewhere to go and sit and get some fresh air.

Speak to your manager, tell them you don't know what you are doing and need help!

LoisSangerAteMyHamster · 22/05/2020 12:58

I might login on the day’s I’m not at work but even that problematic. It was fine when all the information was in my email. Now emails are quiet and I am in twelvty ten Team groups all with conversations and files and chats and....

My manager isn’t there but I know what she’d tell me so you’re right. I’ll go and get some fresh air. No not shielding but in a flat so I’ve got to make an effort to go out but I’ll do it.
