For some reason I will not try banana fritters.
Just the idea of eating them makes me go gaaaaaaah 😣

Pomegranatepompom · 30/05/2020 22:34

Lamb, Brussels, the smell of whiskey.

LynetteScavo · 30/05/2020 22:36

@littlemeitsin

Oysters
Tripe
Kidney
Dog food

Well said, I'll ad brains and tongue and generally offal.

Elsiebear90 · 30/05/2020 22:40

Oysters are really delicious, I used to swear I would never try one as they look revolting, but one day I bit the bullet and I don’t regret it!

I’m definitely too scared to try snails or insects though, I draw the line at those!

Mumsnut · 30/05/2020 22:58

Oysters

Snails

They’re just garlic-flavoured wine gums, let’s face it

MrsAvocet · 30/05/2020 23:07

Black pudding.
Squid/octopus.

LynetteScavo · 30/05/2020 23:10

@Elsiebear90but oysters are still alive- at least snails are dead!

Nat6999 · 30/05/2020 23:17

Rice pudding
Semolina
Any pudding or cake with fresh cream
Coffee with milk

Really most things with milk or cream, put it down to being forced to drink warm milk at school.

I never thought of myself as fussy...
But: I cant eat seafood. Severe allergy.
Ok with white fish.
Have been given various bits of offal (thanks evil step mum) and never again!
Cany be doing with olives. Or avocado .
Or curry. Why would I want to eat something that tastes like eating fire??
Baked beans and anything else in a can with tomato sauce. Nope. I think I would starve .
Yellow or orange cheese is fine. The blue stuff is definitely not.
Random bits of animal? No thanks.
We dont have much meat here, but when we do, its decent stuff .
You can all send your bananas this way.
I will swap for cumquats.
Cumquats would be fine if you could peel them like the little oranges they really are.

notangelinajolie · 31/05/2020 01:10

There are lots of things I would never eat but the one that makes me heave at the very thought is
Fish.

BippityBoppity87 · 31/05/2020 01:49

Onions and peppers. Some people might think ok, why not just pick the peppers off or out of meals? (very frustrating) I can still taste it, the same as onions. I’m not trying to be awkward. It’s just unfortunate that they’re quite common in most dishes

I make food from scratch now as I know what’s going in it. I’m really not a picky eater, but because of that common food group, I appear that way

GrumpyHoonMain · 31/05/2020 01:50

Swiss roll

BlushPeonies · 31/05/2020 01:51

Branston Pickle. I can't even stand any other food items being near the jar, it is quarantined on its own shelf in the fridge door.

I'm a vegetarian so any kind of meat or shellfish too. I used to eat meat but now the thought of it turns my stomach, particularly chicken.

Dislocatedeyeballs · 31/05/2020 02:18

Snails
Pickled eggs
Brawn and tripe
Insects(would try fried grasshoppers though heard they are nice)
Morally wrong stuff like whales bats dogs cats dolphins etc!
Pretty much everything else is fine

JollyGiraffe12 · 31/05/2020 02:23

I would eat most things mentioned on the thread but I’m really not fond of liquorice/aniseed Confused yuck!

ThighThighofthigh · 31/05/2020 02:34

Eggs
Fish
Offal
Poultry
Game
Courgettes
Marrow
Aubergine
Garlic
Spicy food
Lamb

Basically I like plain, clean food that hasn't been handled much - wouldn't eat a pre made sandwich

Anthilda · 31/05/2020 02:38

Jellied eels.
Oysters.
Anchovies.
Chicken liver.
Those purple beetroot burgers I've seen in Aldi.
Tapioca

ThighThighofthigh · 31/05/2020 02:39

Oh alcohol too, I can't stand the smell. Especially red wine, I can smell it across a restaurant and it makes me feel ill

ThighThighofthigh · 31/05/2020 02:40

I love beetroot

choli · 31/05/2020 03:42

That must seriously limit your fine dining options.
Winterlife · 31/05/2020 04:48

The only thing I can think that's common here is any organ meats, other than liver, and any form of insect.

More exotic, I wouldn't eat balut, hakarl, or warthog anus, all things Anthony Bourdain ate. Hakarl, he said, was the worst thing he ever ate, when in Iceland. In Namibia, he was offered unwashed warthog anus, which is a delicacy, and his being offered the first piece was a sign of great respect. He was sick for days after. Fortunately, I don't travel to anywhere more exotic than Hawaii, where a local favourite is spam. I don't like it, wouldn't eat it, but I have no aversion to it.

Doodlebug5 · 31/05/2020 09:09

Peanut butter

It makes me gag thinking about it.
If someone has eaten a peanut butter sandwich and i get a whiff of their breath bleh

Zaphodsotherhead · 31/05/2020 09:20

I'd be interested to know how many of those with long lists of 'yuk' foods either grew up, or were subequently, very very poor.

XP had pages and pages of foods he couldn't (ie, wouldn't, no allergies or food intolerances) eat. But he grew up in an affluent family who tolerated his 'hate cheese, milk, cream, eggs, anything bitty, nuts, gravy, sauces' peculiarities.

I grew up in a not very well off family. You ate what everyone else ate or went hungry (and quite often went hungry anyway). I eat even foods I'm not very keen on even now - maybe as a hangover from the 'eat it or go hungry' years.

Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on this?

Oblomov20 · 31/05/2020 09:22

Liver
Oysters
Tripe
Cockles and welks
Snails
