Hi all,
Looking to hear from those who have naturally conceived after a year of ttc. Did you do anything differently in the mo Th you finally conceived?

Got pregnant after 18 months. We had stopped trying as such pending the start of infertility investigations (my periods few and far between). Only difference the successful month was we were on a very adventurous road trip completely distracted from TTC. I obviously can’t say whether that contributed to our success but we were that cliche of it happened when we stopped thinking about it.

@Hoping43 Hello 😊 how long have you been TTC? 21 months here 🙋‍♀️ xx

Hoping43 · 05/02/2022 07:49

Hi @sunshineandshowers3 we’ve been trying 11 months so not nearly as long but it’s our third baby and we were lucky that things were straight forward previously. Not sure what’s changed. We’ve started fertility investigations now as I’ve just turned 35. What stage are you at?

A sister did, after they’d given up consciously trying, and went on a relatively expensive holiday instead of prudently saving and having a cheaper one.
I’m not saying that necessarily did the trick, though.

@Hoping43 Hi 😊 If you don’t mind me asking, how old were you when you had your first and second?

We have had all our tests done on the NHS and they have showed everything clear for me but that my DH has a normal sperm count, but low motility and morphology. He’s had 3 tests done over 9 months and all have said pretty much the same.

Waiting list is crazy long in our area so we have decided to go private. First consultation with the doctor on 14th Feb…how romantic 😆.

I’m 29 and my DH is 31. Both healthy, active, slim and non-smokers xxx

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER I’ve heard loads of stories like this but I don’t know how to just forget about it 🤷🏼‍♀️

sunshineandshowers3 · 05/02/2022 08:12

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER Thank you 😊 I’ll cling onto any hope I can at the moment. And I’m going on holiday in a few weeks so 🤞

@hoping43 and @sunshineandshowers3, I wish you both all the luck in the world. 💐💐

@sunshineandshowers3 have they told you your husbands results could be causing the delay or are you unexplained? I was 29 when I conceived my first baby and I got pregnant in the first month. At 31, it then took me 8 months. Started TTC a third when I was just over 34 and now I’m 35 and we are on cycle 11. All test results are clear although one for me was just within normal range but they’ve said that’s fine

@sunshineandshowers3 how are you getting on? Xx

First baby was born by IUI (success first time). The reason for not conceiving naturally was 'unexplained' but after extensive googling I decided for myself the reason was hostile cervical mucus. So for the next baby I took loads of cough syrup with guaifenesin in it (it thins the mucus as it does with coughs). Along with ovulation predictor tests - I made sure to take the syrup a few days before and a few days after. I got pregnant naturally very quickly that way so no IUI needed second time. Good luck!

Which cough medicine did you take?
