Has anyone had this surgery if so how was it and did it heal your anal fissure?

Looking likely that I will need this as have a chronic fissure for 18 months now

Not the same but I've had a number of operations for a perianal abcess that turned into an anal fistula and tracked directly through my sphincter muscles recently so I do sympathise with you OP. Wishing you all the best for your surgery x

Funnyface1 · 21/05/2020 20:49

Have you already tried Botox injections?

lazylockdowner · 21/05/2020 20:58

No I haven't tried Botox injections I've read about them but doctor seems to think surgery is only way.

Just going around in circles take stool softeners but they just give me the most awful smelling constant wind and make my stools to soft so I only go a bit and never seem to empty properly I'm literally just full of shit and it stinks

Recently changed to fybrogel and so far these are not giving me wind and I'm going to toilet much better but I'm in agony when I go, I have to sit in warm bath after then

It's pretty much ruining my life and stopping me having relationships as I absolutely stink

There was a thread on this on here a while ago. Lots of answers, would be worth seeing if you could find it.

Honestly it will probably put you off though 🙁

I had botox over 2 years ago and I think it's fixed it. I'd had fissures for ten years thanks to IBS.
I have to eat less than i used to and eat really well through. Recovery took about 6 weeks, was off work for 4.

Sexnotgender · 21/05/2020 21:02

Are you taking lactulose? I took it when I was pregnant and on iron tablets and fuck me it was like awful. The gas was insane and honestly did nothing for me.

lazylockdowner · 21/05/2020 21:18

Maybe I should ask to try Botox first, I did wonder about recovery as my job is hands on and involves lifting as I work with sends

Yes I've tried lactose and I bloody stink on it, fart all day long and it stinks vile

Hi lazylockdowner, I am going through the same problem- I’ve had mine for 16 months and I am waiting for an appointment with a consultant. I really don’t want surgery, but I feel like it will probably be inevitable that I do. I was just wondering if you got surgery for your fissure and if you did, how is the recovery process going? Thanks

bookworm100 · 06/01/2021 22:29

I'm also suffering with a chronic fissure. Can I ask what caused yours? I haven't had children but all the previous threads I could find were from posters who had developed fissures after pregnancy.

bookworm100 · 06/01/2021 22:30

Ah, just seen this is an old thread.

DrDolittlesParrot · 06/01/2021 22:39

I've had a fissure for years, not sure what caused it. I take stool softeners but they don't seem to be helping as much. I hate laxatives as they give me awful stomach ache and wind. I can't face the thought of surgery though. Anyone had botox and what was it like?

lazylockdowner · 06/01/2021 22:42

No idea what started mine it was about 2 years ago.... I have had children but my youngest is 6. Funnily enough the last few months it's really improved and haven't had any issues... to the point I almost forgot I ever had it as I had constant pain fir near on 2 years

DrDolittlesParrot · 06/01/2021 23:26

Do you know what changed @lazylockdowner?

lazylockdowner · 06/01/2021 23:52

No it just seemed to get better of time and I really didn't notice it, just started using the suppositories and creams less and less until I realised I hadn't used it for weeks. When it was bad I wasn't passing stools everyday up. Think slot of that was almost in my mind as it hurt to go, now I have no problem... I'm just praying I haven't spoken to soon
