Wait I just realised. No clapping today. What happened? Did everyone know?

OP posts:
Idododoidadada · 21/05/2020 20:26

The TV did the usual pause of programmes for the clap.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 21/05/2020 20:27

Everyone clapped here

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 21/05/2020 20:28

We clapped. I'm sort of over it but on the day Boris stopped charging foreign healthcare staff for working here I'm glad we're still clapping

CoachBombay · 21/05/2020 20:31

I don't get it, I don't understand it. And the fireworks and the sauspan banging, for god's sake if you must clap do just that, but the noise showboating is irritating at best.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 21/05/2020 20:32

Our NDN's are the only ones still clapping here.

I say clapping, it was a vuvuzela followed by the kids arguing over who gets the vuvuzela. There was, in truth, absolutely no clapping whatsoever.

GetTheStartyParted · 21/05/2020 20:33

The neighbours clapped and are now sat out on the pavement with 4 friends, having a bbq again Hmm

Lsquiggles · 21/05/2020 20:34

More people than ever clapped by me tonight, ironic as they were also the ones having a huge VE day party with all their families who they don't live with not long ago Hmm

Igotta · 21/05/2020 20:39

Clapping here. I hate it as it's so forced now but have to do it else I'd be the talk of the village.

I did a straw poll and my friends feel the same. I'm stopping as of now.

emmavictoria89 · 21/05/2020 20:46

The clapping started of as a nice thing but now it's just people shouting and screaming, kids running around and people banging saucepans for no apparent reason. And the loudest offenders seem to be my neighbours who have people over and/or BBQs every bloody weekend. In fact I think most people on my street have decided they are going to flout the rules on a regular basis now so I've noticed!

MabelX · 21/05/2020 20:46

All the hypocrites were clapping here.

BeltaneBride · 28/05/2020 20:05

Oh god /here it's on now -fireworks/ klaxons: weird instruments brought back from 'travels' in Indonesia etc/ car horns -inevitably followed by barking dogs (poor mutts)

Bloodybridget · 28/05/2020 20:12

In a lot of streets it was for the last time tonight.

KurriKawari · 28/05/2020 20:14

Lol the only family who clap on my street who have ignored social distancing and have people over all the time.

Yerroblemom1923 · 28/05/2020 20:15

Tonight was the last clap.

BestOption · 28/05/2020 20:20

About the same number out here tonight.

I think it's nice to 'see' the neighbourhood out, it's nice knowing people are around.

Not sure what will happen next week, but I'll go out & see. No one can declare itself the last one' it'll be whatever each street/neighbourhood decides

FrogFairy · 28/05/2020 20:33

Very few out in my street tonight.

I think it was a nice gesture as a one off but should never have become a weekly thing.
