I want to renew the sealant behind my kitchen sink & along the worktop there but it's not coming off in a strip like it did in my head Hmm Confused

Is there an easy way to do it so I can finish the job today instead of carrying on into tomorrow?

The builders we’ve had use one of those sharp knife things where the blade snaps off after it’s become blunt. Needs to be very sharp to get the whole layer off.

Ooh, I have one of those! I'll root it out of the shit drawer. No idea where it came from but it's really handy (maybe I need more).

I tried with a scraper but it's a bit blunt after removing all the beading someone stuck to the beading on the other side of my kitchen.

Sharp knife does the job or you can buy silicone remover.

easy and old sealant do not go together!

if you don't have a really sharp Stanley knife blade, order some sealant remover. Long and tedious job, unfortunately.

There is a special tool you can buy - not expensive - that just pulls it out. Have a look on amazon for silicon removing tool Smile

Special tool sounds right up my street! I've managed to get some of it off with the sharp knife...and discovered more of the adhesive they used for the hideous beading underneath it Hmm That stuff took hours to chip away at with my scraper & hammer

I'm going to paint a door instead then go at it again Grin

If you have WD40 spray it along the silicon .Wait a bit .Then hey presto it will help remove it .You must make sure after all residue has gone because when you go to reapply the 2 compounds don't mix .
