Temperamental coffee-maker

My coffee-maker doesn't like to make decaffeinated coffee. However, it's perfectly happy with the full-caf variety.

It's a barista style machine (or however you call them, not a capsule-type machine anyway). We use red Lavazza or decaf Lavazza depending who's drinking it. It makes very nice coffee with a lovely crema; however, it you put decaf coffee in it drips it slowly and painfully and eventually stops. Every single time.

Why? I don't believe coffee-makers are sentient beings, but this kind of thing makes me wonder...

What do you think the issue might be? Both types of coffee are ground to a similar consistency...

Are you talking about an espresso machine? If so then if the decaff is blocking you can try tamping it down less. Even if the grind feel similar if might be finer.

I had a defective coffee maker. I divorced him!
