Is this the new flossing?

I remember people twerking, and I was vaguely aware of dabbing. The flossing phase nearly drove me mad.

But now I can't open up a news app or social media without hearing about the flouting.

I went 40-odd years without ever witnessing a flouting, and now everyone is at it. People flouting social distancing rules. They were flouting rules against stockpiling toilet rolls and flouting the rules against non-essential travel and if the bank holiday weather holds out, I shall expect to hear about people flouting restrictions around neighbourhood barbecues.

Nobody ever breaks a rule anymore, or disregards it. Nobody bends rules or even defies them. Suddenly rules are made to be flouted.

(except for the sad bastards who apparently go around flaunting the rules, like somehow they have shinier, better rules than the rest of us.)
