...learn how to bake a decent sponge cake.

What has it only taken a global pandemic for you to learn?

I finally got round to digging up my overgrown garden to make a veggie patch. Lost my oomph though a bit and have only planted some tatties so far

AnyFucker · 20/05/2020 20:34

Give up alcohol

Stop wearing makeup

BissueTox · 20/05/2020 20:38

Happily sing solo in front of my choir (over zoom)

Make English Muffins by hand

Wash the windows (ok, I think an elephant had pooed down them, so I had to as window cleaner isn't starting back until June)

Learned quilling, patchwork and applique.

Began to identify birdsong as it's all I hear at the moment! Smile

C25k, I’ve never been a runner and can justify spending on sportswear guilt free.

LadyLooLaa · 20/05/2020 20:53

@Smelborp ain’t that the truth. Turns out that I don’t not garden because of a lack of time, it’s because I fucking hate gardening.
Which reminds me that I was supposed to trim my hedge today.

AnyFucker · 20/05/2020 21:44

There is no lockdown long enough that would enable me to read Wolf Hall

Fudgewhizz · 20/05/2020 21:48

Try our local fishmonger. So fresh and reasonable! Supermarket fish is off the menu round here from now on.

Got a window cleaner. Staring at the windows for days on end made me realise that a - they were filthy and b - no matter how much time there was I was never going to clean them myself.

StillMedusa · 21/05/2020 00:01

Crochet a blanket!
Realise how much happier I am at home (I'm a keyworker but on a rota for now so only working half the week)
Realise it's not lack of time that makes me hate cleaning...it's lack of inclination.Grin

LaneBoy · 21/05/2020 00:03

Do a lot of decluttering

Learn how to make jam. DM was never one to make anything like that but DGM would regularly have something on the go when I was a child.

I just remember the huge metal pot, the muslin cloth hanging up to drip, the oh-so-many jars which had to be sterilised and you needed special tops or do something with hot water to seal a metal lid on, being told you had to go buy the special jam sugar, all of that palaver.

I made mine with a Kilner jar, a regular cooking pot, roughly chopped strawberries, regular granulated sugar and a bit of lemon juice. If I'd known it was that simple I'd have never bought it over the years.

DamnYankee · 21/05/2020 00:45
