Grandparents and their relationship with your DC

Do you feel that grandparents communicate with your DC through you or directly with them?

I don't mean literally in the way they speak/text, but does the relationship always feel as though it's via you? For example, do birthday presents to their grandchildren seem like a favour to you, as much a a gift to your DC? Or do all gestures seem solely for the DC?

Does that make sense?!

I know what you mean when my daughter gets a new dress or present from them I always say thank you but it’s not like it’s a dress for me?? 😂
