Been up all night no real worries just couldn’t sleep so sat downstairs til OH gets up for work. Obviously feeling hungry so I’ve just eaten 2 pieces white toast and marmite, I’m on a diet and have forgotten how tasty it is and I want some more! Don’t really know why I’m posting but just to remind you all how absolutely lush it is. It was my go to food post nights too .

Hot marmite

My DS's favourite quick and easy dinner is marmite pasta - mix marmite and butter together, then toss with cooked pasta. Absolutely brilliant. Also marmite bread - like garlic bread, but made with marmite butter instead of garlic butter.

I haven't been able to get Marmite in Sainsburys for weeks

Baked beans with marmite on toast. Delicious and almost as good at curing hangovers as a Big Mac.

I think I can admit here that a fried egg bap with Marmite and cheese was our breakfast of champions here today. It was all DD13 fault, it was her idea.... Not often i get to blame the teens for stuff :)

Don't buy actual Marmite though.

You need supermarket own brand yeast extract.

Exactly the same as Marmite, just cheaper! Sainsbury also do a lower salt version.

I have gone marmite crazy again after not having it for years. It's pretty healthy in itself, not so much with the endless slices of white bread and butter to go with it!

Yes, I have to make my own marmite on toast as the ratio of toast to butter and marmite is easy to get wrong

Treasure that marmite. It seems to be going through a phase of going out of stock. DS might have to go cold turkey.
I had to stop eating it when I went gluten free. I sniff the jar occasionally.

Marmite on the toast for Beans on Toast is amazing

My default breakfast is 2 slices of toast, 1 with marmite, one with peanut butter. We buy both in big tubs. Marmite was one of the few things I could keep down down when I had hyperemisis, but no butter on the toast.

DS always gets Marmite cashews in his stocking!

"Hot Marmite" Yes! Much nicer than hot Bovril. I got some of the limited edition Marmite (XO?) when it came out. It wasn't exactly stronger, more a deeper flavour.

There was something about Marmite in the Quiz of the Week on the BBC News website. Apparently there's not so much being manufactured atm because the fall in beer production due to pubs and bars being closed means there's a shortage of the Brewer's Yeast it's made from!

This thread has just set off a Marmite craving for breakfast.
One variation on Marmite on toast is to make a buttery Marmite sandwich and then lightly toast both sides under the grill.
Completely different and beyond gorgeous. 😋
