I've never used it. I have no use for it but a friend kept pushing me to sign up so I did a few days ago. I've logged on today to find 3 people who want to be my friend - I've never heard of them so no ty. I always wondered how people had hundreds of 'friends' on FB - I guess they just accept anybody. It's not what I call a friend.

Currently looking at what's for sale. There's one for a vintage bible - heading says FREE - underneath it says Not Free. Lot's have FREE when they are obviously not free, eg a car. I've now come across: £1 each for tomato plants, the next ad says £123,456 for cucumber plants - WTF? There was a lovely ad for an off the shoulder women's top, with a bearded, hairy chested man modelling it. For only £1 you can buy buttock enhancers which make you look like you have a watermelon stuck on either butt cheek.

I don't know if I logged in on a crazy day but not going to log back in again soon.

If you're a FB fan I would love to know why?

I only have friends and family. My privacy settings mean only friends of friends can add me (suggest you tighten yours if randoms are adding you). I never go on FB Marketplace.

Shoxfordian · 19/05/2020 15:11

I wouldn't say I'm a fan as such
I think it's good for sharing photos and updating lots of people on news at once. I only have people I actually know in real life on there. It can be good for recipes, I like Tasty, it's a food group.

Thanks, so those reasons make sense. I don't really have much contact with my sister or her adult children and am childless myself so no need of that but I can see how it's useful if you do.

That's the way the selling sites are set up I think.

I've got hundreds of "friends". I do know them all, some better than others. I would never accept anyone I didn't know and I ignore requests from people I don't like.

I don't know why anyone would want someone to be on Facebook to the point of nagging them unless they were a show off or mlm bot though so be wary!

RainMustFall · 19/05/2020 15:46

Oh definitely aware of MLM bots - not sure when or if I will log in again so if she is, she will be disappointed.

It's useful for some things eg I have a hobby group which uses it for communication. It the moment it is a bit like the work of the devil. And I'd never accept someone as a friend I didnt know. Chancers like that get blocked.

I just have friends who are people I really do know In real life, together with some relatives too.
Marketplace can be quite good. We just sold some expensive Land Rover wheels on there, and daughter bought an old pine chest of drawers for £1 which she has painted and revamped.

I don't like it I wish there were more social networks like in the good old days !
