Just that really. I was hoping to gather some ideas as I am clueless.

Mum is quite sentimental but also quite practical.
I thought of jewellery but she doesn't stick with the same pieces of jewellery and has a fair bit already. She wouldn't really want art or ornaments.
I think that she would prefer something that she can keep to an experience for this birthday.

Likes gardening but wouldn't want a plant or tree.

Isn't really interested in expensive handbags or clothes.
Wears nice perfume but this doesn't seem special enough.

I am lost. Any thoughts or things that went down well with similar people would be amazing.
Thank you Smile

We threw a party for her, and me and DSis split the cost of that.

My DDs bought me a tattoo! Plus a spa day and lunch with them both, then all three of us went to marrakech for a few days.

Iv been saving for a few years so next year I can take her to Vienna, to see the lipizzaner horses, is there anywhere your mum has always wanted to visit?

My Mum retired at 60 from a long career in journalism. I spent £1000 & got her a decent video camera. Her retirement party was a blast - all the cameramen were squabbling over who got to film everyone! She did a lot of travelling in her 60s, made a lot of memories & did a lot of filming.

I spent the same amount on my Dad when he retired at 60 - he always loved stargazing so I got him a telescope & various books of the sky!

We clubbed together for big party for her 60th. She just had to turn up

For her 70th I took her to Venice for a few days. When I was in my early 20s I promised her I would so at least I'd had time to save up Grin

Balloons!!! Purely because she thought that adults who have balloons for these occasions are lowbrow!! It was a way of helping her laugh, good naturedly at herself!!

An olive tree with a really lovely big pot. She is a bugger to buy for despite claiming to be easy, and it took me forever to find something that I could 1.afford and 2.was special enough. This fitted the brief nicely.

I bought my DM a piece of antique jewellery, she wears it from time to time, but its not the sort of thing you'd wear daily.

It depends on where is open really but Etsy is a good place to browse.

For my 60th my children clubbed together to send me to Athens for a week. Bloody brilliant and very unexpected. I was so pleased
