Very stressed

I have an awful lot going on right now and I am feeling very stressed. The last couple of days I've been having chest pain and generally feeling awful. Despite all this I am extremely grateful for the life I lead and I know things could be so much worse. I am looking for some ideas of self care that might help me to feel calmer and more able to deal with everything.

What sorts of things do you enjoy doing? I would start with that then schedule it in to your day so you don't put it off. It's very easy to stop the things we do for fun in favour of the things we feel we need to do.

I think that's probably part of the issue, I've been so distracted that I don't find I enjoy doing anything. Unless you count laying in bed for hours on end, its the only thing that feels comforting at the moment.

It can become a bit of a vicious circle. We feel low so stop doing the things we enjoy which in turn makes us feel worse. I have found in the past when I have felt low that even though all I want to do is stay in bed actually doing something helps. It is hard though and some days are easier than others.

Maybe start off small and gradually build up. So instead of reading a novel read a short story. It won't feel like a huge task then and you will get the satisfaction of completing it.
