Trying to work out how much to offer a new employee.

Thanks in advance.

Six months full pay. Six months half.

Sandybval · 18/05/2020 19:38

Same as paper monster. I would suggest that is quite rare in the private sector though.

Dk20 · 18/05/2020 19:42

Six months full pay each year in the private sector

Teddypops · 18/05/2020 19:46

I'm only a small business. I employ 3 people, all part time. 6 months full pay would bankrupt me Sad

I want to be able for offer something in the current climate, especially if they might need to self isolate.

4 months full pay, 4 months half pay - charity.

Started as 1 week full, 1 week half. Up to 1 month full and one month half after first year. Then 2 months full etc. up to a maximum of 4 months.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 18/05/2020 19:47

I'm pretty sure that new starters only get 1 month full and 1 month half.

CatToddlerUprising · 18/05/2020 19:47

Started with one month full pay, one month half. Both full and half rises by one month with each year of service, capped at 6 months

amusedbush · 18/05/2020 20:20

Six months full pay, six months half (university admin).

I’ve worked in the private sector before and the sick pay was nothing like that. No pay at all for the first week, then statutory after that. I can’t remember how long for, though.

Jazzled · 18/05/2020 20:23

6 months full 6 months half but it was staggered by length of service.

inchoccyheaven · 18/05/2020 20:24

I only get SSP. Small business and been there 5 years. Never been off sick more than a couple of days but now might have to go on sick from furlough as I am shielding and boss wants me to either come back or he will employ someone else.

CherryPavlova · 18/05/2020 20:25

Six months full pay six months half pay too.

Ultrasoft · 18/05/2020 20:27

Six months full pay and six months' half pay ut you need five years service to get that. It starts at a month and increases annually.

Employers usually take insurance to enable them to pay it and employ cover staff.

London91 · 18/05/2020 20:28

Six months full pay, six months half pay. I work for a local authority.

Bollss · 18/05/2020 20:29

4 weeks full pay then SSP. Which I am now realising is seemingly crap!

StayAlert · 18/05/2020 20:29

Statutory only

teenagetantrums · 18/05/2020 20:30

Just SSP. Been their 3,years. Previous office job was 6, month's at full pay

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 18/05/2020 20:30

Six months full, six months half BUT we have a stringent sickness review policy. I’ve only had one day off in the five I’ve been at my current place so haven’t experienced the policy.

thatcarolebaskinbitch · 18/05/2020 20:30

25 days full pay then SSP, private sector.

Givenupno · 18/05/2020 20:32

Full pay!!

Definitely a lack of self employed people on this thread.

£86 a week with a drs note

OddBoots · 18/05/2020 20:33

In my last job I got 3 days per year.

In this job I get 1 month full pay and 1 month half pay in the first year, 2 months full pay and 2 months half pay in the second year and so on up to a maximum of 6 months full pay 6 months half pay.

Itstartedinbarcelona · 18/05/2020 20:37

5 months’ full pay, 5 months’ half pay - government.

Budapestpest · 18/05/2020 20:41

It’s very common to only pay ssp op. The 6 months full pay and six months half pay kind of is very rare indeed in the private sector.

Megan2018 · 18/05/2020 20:41

6 months full pay, 6 months half but up to a year full pay at employers discretion (usually those with cancer etc get a year).

doughnutmuffin · 18/05/2020 20:42

6 months full and 6 half but again I'm also in the public sector

RitzSpy · 18/05/2020 20:44

We are a small company - so we have taken out insurance to cover illness - we pay for the first 4 weeks, then the insurance kicks in and they get 6 months full pay.
