So you've won millions on the lottery. These are the scenarios that always come to mind how would you react.
You were trying to keep it a secret but you've been caught out.
What would you do?
Would you lie about how much you won downplay it to a lower amount and why?
Tell people the exact amount baring in mind its absolutely millions.
Do a moon light flight disappear ready to start a new life?
Why would you run away?
What makes people you know such as family and friends feel that you owe them money and that they automatically will get a chunk of money?

So you've generously given friends and family money why do they either get annoyed about the amount you've given them and why do they expect to be given more money when they've already been given some.
When your talking about winning why do people chime In and say you can have this much of your win and I'll have this much I just find this entitled and when you say no I'll give you this much they call you selfish.
All these spring to mind and I feel like the only option generally would be totally disappearing. Winning the lottery would be amazing but I feel like it could also be a bit of a hindrance people coming out of the wood work begging for money.your family could be in danger when people find out and whe you give people money they will always expect more.

I don’t really know anyone outside family. I’d have to be unlucky to be caught out in public if it were a huge, huge amount.

Yes I would. Only because money (or knowing someone who has comes into a lot) does odd things to people. They would expect money from you.

Tell people the exact amount baring in mind its absolutely millions.

I’d never tell. Not even my close family probably. I’d slip PIL and SIL a million each though.

We wouldn’t really have to as we don’t have a huge circle. I would buy my way into Australia and fuck off there though.

What makes people you know such as family and friends feel that you owe them money and that they automatically will get a chunk of money?

Human nature.

People always want more.

I play this game a lot in my head. I’d honestly tell no one. We only have a tiny family and no close friends anyway. I’d explain the fucking off to Australia or the big house back where I used to live (well not big, it’s London, just expensive) by saying Dh had a rich nan who died and gave us money.

I’d give a LOT to charities. But I’d do it quietly and I’d make sure it was going to the right people. I’d also help parents pay for medical treatment for sick children, accommodation close to hospitals for them etc.

I’ll never understand the big winners who splash themselves all over the press.

Oh I love daydreaming about a lottery win!! Do you also look up dream houses online? I love looking up and deciding which mansion I'd buy, but realistically would probably just go for a normal house, just bigger and nicer than ours is!

I'd definitely downplay how much I'd won, and tell anyone apart from close family that it's inheritance money so no-one gets grabby! I'd share it out with close family, and in laws so they all have a good chunk each. My sister and I regularly chat about how much we'd give out if we won so we know it's the same amount as each other 😂

I'd want full (subtle) security systems on the house though, I'm nervous about stuff like that so wouldn't want to be made a target if we looked like good people to burgle!

@HelpMeDrRanj I look up the houses and in my head I plan all the furniture and colour schemes Grin

Oh I also love dreaming about winning the lottery . Even on lockdown I have walked with my dc and seen a couple of houses I'd like to buy .
I actually think at the minute it'd be perfect because I'm not working ( furloughed) . So I'd have time to plan what to do with the money and not need to tell anyone yet .

I'd not tell anyone how much I'm not sure if I'd want to tell anyone that I won.
I'd definitely give lots to charity and I'd love to help some people out . I've family I don't speak to so could be awkward if they heard I'd won .

Oh yes I definitely plan how my house would look , en suite bathroom and walk in wardrobe all very Cheshire housewives my favourite program. Grin

I'd tell my family, but probably not the full amount tbh. I'd buy my brother and sister houses each, but relatively modest ones in their current areas so we're not even talking a million between them. They would need to then be able to maintain the bills etc for themselves (I think giving them houses rent free is pretty generous tbh). Mil would get a little house near where she currently lives as well, and we'd probably give her a monthly top up to her pension seeing as her husband left her up shit creek when he died.

We'd move to a bigger/nicer house near where we live as well. And upgrade things as and when we needed. And employ a cleaner/housekeeper. So it would be obvious that we'd come into some money. I wouldn't be sticking with my current full time job either, but would do something part time or on a voluntary basis.

@Connie222 yes! Planning renovations on the houses is SO satisfying. I know what I'll be doing for the rest of the evening now...
