Period lasting longer this month

I've always been pretty regular, but I am 43 next month. Had the copper coil fitted 18 month ago no probs really as I've always been heavy so didnt notice much difference. Since having it I always spot brown.blood a day or too before period then it comes normal flow then by day 5 or 6 its over with
This month however I've been bloody stressed (as is everyone) and my period was a week late..extremely unusual and I've felt not quite right since having corona virus symptoms early April

However day 8 and I'm still bleeding. I havent been heavy at all this month but it doesn't seem to be stopping tmi I know but I passed a big clot around day3 which again is unusual

I've googled yeah yeah i know but it point s to cancer worst case. I had a polyp removed last year and a scan which was ok but my smear has been cancelled until further notice and I'm shitting myself. I have health anxiety anyway which i need help for. Oh I was very bloated before I came on but that's gonna down a bit now

Please be kind. I'm not feeling brilliant the moment.

Has anyone else had the same?

I had this and it was anaemia.

Hi op

I had same with the copper coil although was a bit younger when I had it, had it from 35 - 38.

I had brown spotting for 2 - 3 days, then 5 - 7 days of bleeding, then 1 - 2 days of spotting, it was ridiculous. I have health anxiety too and it really worried me, I even got sent for a scan and womb biopsy at one point but it came back normal. I would also get severe period pain plus random twinges all month really, plus severe ovulation pain I actually put that down now to it digging in me

I begged them to remove it in the end. and I swear when the moment nurse removed it felt like my lower abdomen gave a sigh of relief. personally I think they are horrible

so by all means get it checked out, but i would almost guarantee it is the coil

hugs x

*the moment the nurse removed it (that's meant to say)

And since then my periods have been regular and last 5 - 7 days at most with minimal pain

ghostmous3 · 18/05/2020 14:20

Thank you Dianne I did wonder if it was the coil and hope it is really.

My mood swings have been awful but then I wonder if it period menopause as well and a combination of things

Yes could possibly be start of peri menopause as well, never thought of that! It's almost certainly nothing to worry about though
