Best present for my 1 year old

Really stuck at what to get my soon to be 1 year old. I don't want to spend a fortune. Would like a few items that will be throughly enjoyed.

So tell me what your 1 year olds love!

We bought our DD one of those little pull-along dogs for her first birthday. She properly loved it, and still has it now (aged 8). Also a toy mobile phone with buttons/lights/sounds and musical instruments.
