Best Fitbit (or alternative) for a beginner?

Fancy one just to monitor steps/distance (walking not running), calories burned, heartbeat and sleeping patterns. There are cheaper options available... any reason to avoid and go straight for a Fitbit or will the cheap non branded ones do the job just as well?!

I've been using a Huawei Band 4 for the past few months and it's fantastic. It cost about £25 and does everything I need it to. The sleep monitoring is especially good. I got mine from Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/HUAWEI-Activities-Continuous-Tracking-Waterproof-Black/dp/B07XTQGDJM?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Is that an affiliate link, Joan?

Joan0fSarc · 17/05/2020 19:44

@UhKevin no - I went into Amazon and copied the link for OP, not sure why it has Mumsnet in it?

ive got a fitbit which has been ok for starting out, but moving to garmin now I'm tracking my running and sports seriously.
I'd advise you Get something with gps in it to improve accuracy rather than relying on it syncing with your phone.

I am a beginner and I got the Fitbit versa lite for Christmas and I really like it. It does everything I need and it is not bulky like some of the other ones. I use it with the fitbit premium app and I would highly recommend it.

I've got the Honor Band 5. Only had it a couple of weeks but so far it does what I want - counts steps, calories and heart rate when exercising, and monitors sleep. The sleep isn't all that accurate. It thinks you're asleep if you're lying down and staying still, even if you're actually doing breathing exercises because you can't sleep, worrying about work, or staying still even though you need a wee because you don't want to disturb the cat. For under £30 from Amazon I'm happy with it.

I have an amazfit bip. Got it on amazon last year for about €60.
It counts steps, tracks walks /runs /cycles using GPS. Tracks heart rate and sleep and has an amazing battery - 45 days f just used as a step counter, 25+ of you're using it to track activities regularly.
You can get phone notifications on it but I don't as it uses more battery. Hard wearing and you can buy different straps.
There's a newer version available with more features for about €100 AFAIK.

I used to have a Fitbit that clipped onto my bra but it has stopped working.
Lurking here for an alternative!

I'd stuck with a basic sports watch for years. DH loved his Fitbit2. Recently got some pennies and got myself the Fitbit3. Best thing I ever did. Really motivated again. Easy to use and covers what you want it to do OP..
Go for it.

I have the Fitbit charge 3, pretty happy with it. You can connect it to gps on your phone if you choose when doing a walk.
