Strange symptoms?

I'm posting here for traffic.

I've been unwell since the beginning of lockdown, and I'm getting worse daily. I'm so stressed and upset about this.

Symptoms -

Left shoulder weak, still and painful. Gets 'stuck' in position.

General feeling of weakness, particularly in hands and left leg. Don't want to hold anything heavy.

Wake up every night with numb hands which then turn to pins and needles

General fatigue and low mood

I'm so scared. I'm convinced it's motor neurone disease and I'm going to die.

I have a dr appointment tomorrow.

If anyone has any insight, particularly gps, I'd be so unbelievably grateful. I've been so teary and upset today. I'm 37.

Thank you

I had similar symptoms that came out the blue and I was 100% certain I had MS or MND. I spent hours googling them and was absolutely convinced.
I had loads of tests done including a brain MRI and nothing was ever found. The GP told me that anxiety and stress can cause physical symptoms like that and something like 75% of people who see a neurologist at hospital actually have an anxiety disorder that has escalated.
Hopefully it’s something similar in your case and there’s nothing sinister going on.
Oh and the neurologist I saw said MND and MS symptoms would be there constantly (or constantly for a few weeks during an MS flare up) instead of coming and going and only showing up at night time etc

Ask for some blood tests too as low iron and b12 and Vit d can have neurological symptoms such as numbness and pins and needles. Would explain your fatigue and low mood too

Thank you.

I had blood tests in February which were normal except for slightly low vit d

Sorry forgot to also say that MND in young females is incredibly rare (something like less than 0.5% chance) so it’s extremely unlikely to be that. I understand how scary it is when all of your symptoms seem to fit though. Your symptoms could fit 100 other things too so try not to focus on the worst outcome possible x
