4yo DS needs a haircut - I’ve watched YouTube tutorials but not feeling at all confident! Have got hairdressing scissors but no clippers - can anyone offer top tips/encouragements for a nervous newbie?!

I cut my two year olds hair. Make sure you have a good, fine comb and bribe him to sit still with his absolute favourite treats in vast quantities. Grin
I basically sat him on a chair in the kitchen with YouTube and a bag of chocolate buttons.
Also take your time and snip small, so you can keep it even and not take out a drastic chunk. Smile

Also remember when doing the fringe area that wet hair will spring up when dry. You don't want a Spock fringe situation. Grin

I asked DS1 (15) if he wanted me to cut his hair. His reply was "hmmm... no! I'll just tell people I'm a hippy" Grin
Sorry. That's no help whatsoever!

Thank you for the tips - I was brave and did it this morning with the help of Netflix & jellybabies to keep him still! A bit choppy but not as bad as I expected Grin

I’ve just done my 4yo and 2yo boys ...and I was not exactly brimming with confidence in my ability! I don’t like my boys hair to have that shaved head look , just a smart tidy up . So I used clippers on a 7 I think (could be wrong but it was not a very short setting) then I moved it in an upwards motion at the back and sides and flicked the clippers out at the top curve of the head so as to leave the top section (you could cut this with scissors but I left it as it wasn’t too long)
It looked a lot better once it was short around the ears and back .
I’m sure a hairdresser would have some better advice but it worked quite well for me!

Sorry just realised you have done it already and don’t have clippers!
